Soldiers say and do all kinds of things during war. The stress levels achieved by soldiers cannot be imagined and cannot be duplicated. Some snap and do weird sh!t, and you hear about it. Rarely do you hear about it when they give candy to kids, or help families put a door back on their sh!thole apartment. Your position on whether or not a U.S. soldier deserves respect is about as important as a pimple on goats ass.

What a load of crap! They aren't playing beach volleyball over there, they're fighting a war. And not only that, they are fighting an enemy who is merciless and inhuman when it comes to slaughtering innocents. Sh*t happens in war. . .lots of bad things. . .that's why war is something to be avoided if possible. But when it becomes necessary, it should be prosecuted violently and effectively with maximum effort to protect our troops.

You live in Prague? Unless you are dumber than than dirt, you should understand that freedom isn't free. . .and when the price for freedom is paid, whether in Europe or the Middle East or wherever, it's usually those US troops you are disparaging that pay that price.

I posted this yesterday and just noticed the responses. Yes, "God Bless OUR Troops" loud and clear. If it wasn't for Americans, Praque boy would be Goose-stepping to another tune--the whole world would be.
Whether you're for the cause or against it, I could give a s---, our guys are over there and there are unfriendlys that are out to kill them so it's kill or be killed, simple as that.
I'm proud of our guys and gals representing America wherever they are.

My 2 Cents.....

I watched 9/11 from across the hudson river....walked out of my building to the smell of the destruction......after seeing that I have zero issues with a war against "evil", and if in a war zone things are done that might be seen as a touch on the rough side to get information so be it.......if you want to win a war against anmials then you must fight like them....

And Eldar2k, next time someone in your part of the world need the USA to come bail them out, all I can say is one thing, "Don't call us, we will call you"

I'm not sure the exclusion was meant anyway, but nearly 300,000 Americans died in WWII and 52,000 of them were in the Pacific. By comparison, a total of about 60,000 British troops died in all of WWII. The U.S. casualties was a tenth of that number in one day, D-Day.

While none of that is anything to be proud of, the U.S. did come to the aid of it's Allies and sacrificed many single individual soldier's lives to stop the Germans.

Of course, one could go on and on about the thousands of Merchant Marines that died before the U.S. entered the war while ferrying supplies and equipment over to Europe to aid in the effort. This from an infant country that had already been there, done that.

So, frankly, I am saying that Hummer Geek's one statement is simply true, but it does not discount other countries' involvement either. The same could be said about the British, because without her soldiers it would be a different story also.

Well put Paragon. I don't chime in to the forum often but when I saw the picture of the H1 upside down, so I'm thinking, damn, my first reaction was "God Bless Our Troops". Some of our guys are driving along and boom--their gone (not in that photo but in many roadside bombings). I've got friends and family serving in Iraq so I reacted hastly to Eldar2K's remarks.
I still stand by my original post.

The slogan is neither intelligent nor honorable.

But we should be able to agree that oil, an economic motive, is not driving U.S. policy.

Already the threat of war has added a "war premium" of about $10 to the price of a barrel of oil.

We import 58 percent of the oil we use. But if seizing oil were our aim, our troops might be massing not in Kuwait but in North Dakota preparing to invade Canada, the number one source of imported oil — providing three times more than Iraq.

We import twice as much from two other hemisphere neighbors, Mexico and Venezuela, as we do from Iraq.

Remember, oil is fungible. It pours from many sources into the world market pool.

After a war, we will get Iraqi oil the way we currently get more than one million barrels a day of it. We will buy it, paying what we pay today — the world market price.

The "blood for oil" delusion springs from paranoia.

It accuses the entire American leadership of dishonestly invoking the specter of weapons of mass destruction — to disguise economic cupidity.

But such weapons are not specters. They are real, and we should be able to debate how to deal with them without slandering the men and women making U.S. policy by calling them cynics, eager to shed "blood for oil."

There is a war against the insurgents now.

We are striving to rebuild a country that has been in tyrrany for three decades, while still at that war, and are slowly returning the responsibilty to that country.

Leaving Iraq in it's current state would just lead to another tyrannical situation. Our goal is to have a stable, peaceful, democratic country in the Middle East.

The UN is a front for what really happens. We give them the money and they usally go olng with whatever we want but lately the UN has taken a life of it's own. The UN has been a huge joke, especially where Iraq is concerned. Had the UN simply backed up it's resolutions with action, the coalition forces would not have had to sidestep and bring down Hussein themselves.

2. Sweden is the most liberal country in the world with fruitcakes (and this is a fact) running the "army". 3. If you compare just basic decision process in Swedish culture, it is like a freaking nut house compared to anything you have ever seen on this planet. In every negotiation ALL the people have to agree before decision can be made. If UN worked that way, we wouldn't still have the aid at the chrisis zones like Zunami in Thailand or earthquake area in Paskistan. I hope you little whiners understand that world will always have a major power. Yes, it will be chritizied, some for reason some for not. Would you little swedish meatball rather have the chinese or russians run the world instead??? Think about it!

4. Again, I have an oppinion about Iraq (I support US in there), but hell, everybody is entitled to their opinion.
