When I picked up my H3 on Thurs. I was told that the univ. home link/lighted vanity mirrors are not part of the Lux pkg. any longer, although mine had been ordered in late June and the window sticker even listed these items as being on the vehicle. I really was looking forward to not having my garage door opener on the visor. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I don't know if they are separate options now or what, and maybe I should receive some type of credit for not having these on mine. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

They now have to be ordered separately.

Cost cutting measure. This is the same one on a lot of other models...
You can still get it and any order made before the change will get it.

I just spoke with my dealer and he confirmed that is no longer part of the Lux pkg., but can be ordered as separate item. All previous orders expecting it will NOT have it as they deleted it during production. Mine will not have it - I pick it up today at 6pm.

For those of us who don't care for leather seats this makes the the non-lux models even more appealing. The difference is not worth the extra cost.
I'll disagree with you richk. If you're saying the homelink (aka visor garage door opener) is a deal breaker for the lux package, then damn you're picky! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif If you are against leather, that's one thing, but to dismiss the lux because of the non-remote opener is a big mistake. The leather is awesome in the H3. Confucius say Lux package in H3 feels good on bum.

But seriously: In the US, can they just kick out an item, when the car was originally ordered to have it onboard? Wouldn't they have to pay some sort of compensation (at least!)?
In Germany it would be impossible just to "kick out" a product feature, once the car has been ordered including that feature. In Germany you could even step back entirely from your order, when a manufacturer/supplier decides to change the "product" without the change being agreed on by the customer.
I agree.
If it was an option at time of order, meaning it was part of the Lux package, then I'd bitch and moan about it until they did something to remedy the situation. Same goes for the crossbows (which are now option only) if you got the chrome package before they yanked it.
I meant to say that it sucks they're taking it out, and if you ordered it that way before they pulled it, make your voice heard!

Damn right. i would light somebody up like a christmas tree !! Seriously though that is something that you agreed to in your contract when you entered into the purchase agreement. All those items that were on the invoice are YOURS. If they cant find a way to get them to you, they are technically in breech. (of course I am no lawyer but did watch legally blonde..um with my girlfriend) . Good luck.

I just picked up mine tonight and even though I didn't get the visor/home link, they did previously have in my order for the roof rails and the dealer did install those once the truck arrived - same price. Plus they gave me the chrome fuel door at no charge and had it installed by pickup time!
Unfortunately the visor is not an aftermarket item and they couldn't make good on it.
I'll just chalk this up to the "first release issues" and leave it at that!
The feeling driving it home makes nothing else matter! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I picked up mine the Aug 11th from an order and my lux did have the homelink. I don't have a garage to use it yet. I thought I ordered crossbows (black) but they were missing so I had to add them separately. Some things are a little fishy.
You could always refuse to accept the vehicle... but if you think about it... if they told you the rear seat was on fire would you not take it home anyway. It is soooo coooool!!!

http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gifI may be wrong, but it sounds like GM Hummer is hitting rock bottom on the supplies. Demand greater than expected, Looks like Those later in the Months are going to get whatever they can build. Keep the sales rolling, we can't stop now...Cha Ching, Cha Ching.

I thought buying American was supporting American workers and the American economy. Getting a cool styling, higher than German quality and extreme capability and value is a bonus to me. Is it wrong that GM is fiddling with options after ordering? sure, and I'll be the first to let them know. It's not because their like us... American.

if you're implying that an H3 is built to higher quality standards than, let's say a BMW, then you're delusional bro. i like my H3...i love it actually!!! that said, its quality/technology is very far behind my prior M3. my bimmer had no cheap plastic or friggin staples!!! staples? that is sad.
love your vehicle but be honest and see it for what it REALLY is (both good and bad).

I assume you are talking about the staples that hold the splash shield to the fender liner? If so, that splash shield is not serviceable as a separate part, and so they stapled it to the fender liner. So, what's wrong with staples. I would bet you could tear apart a BMW and find some items you find strange too.
As for quality surveys, lately the Japanese are beating the heck out of the Germans, and the Americans and Canadians are getting some better quality reports and surveys than all of them.
Look at JD Powers and see how the US cars are moving up the ladder, and some of the lower priced GM cars are banging against the high priced imports.
Does the M3 have a better interior than a H3? Yes, and so does a Cadillac, but the sticker price is slightly higher on those two models if my memory serves me right this early in the AM.
I'm not knocking German cars, I love the BMW line and wish that GM had purchased them 10 years ago (a long story). I also love the looks of the Lexus line, but not one of them make anything comparable to the H3 with decent interiors and great off-road (I say great off-road) capabilities; especially in this price range. (Witnessed a 20 year old Jeep Cherokee, driven by our Navajo Indian Guide, extracting an X5 from the sands of Monument Valley last year, and the X5 driver was was red as the surrounding rock.)
Now back on subject. I would be peed off if I ordered a luxury package and not all the items are included as sold. However, I would bet there is probably a small font disclaimer somewhere on that form you signed (can only be read with the Hubble Telescope) that states something like, "GM has the right to change content," or something similar.
Not saying this is right, but it probably is legally binding...GM does have one large legal department and usually the legal eagles look everything over before it is approved.
In my humble opinion, anytime they change the content of a package, they should only do it on the packages not ordered. That is only my PERSONAL opinion.
You do get a lot more with the luxury package than just leather, and it still is probably worth the price. I would be more upset about the chrome appearance package, since the crossbows make it worth the $600.00. Just the chrome mirrors and door handles, in my opinion, does not make it worth $600.00
(All statements are my personal opinion.)

Re: f5fstop's above statement, I agree with everything you said. I just want to clarify that the chrome appearance pkg. was $850, it has been changed to $400 (for the door handles and mirrors) and the bright finished crossbows can be added for $450 now.

GM does all sorts of fun things to orders as they come in. Once I got a flash that 3 of the 4 lux H2's i had comming in had been changed to Adventures. So what do i do? I talked the customer into it but I had no control over it. With Hummer offering the 4 year 50k warrenty that is bold comming from them. That alone tells me they have done the studies to back up the quality and cost of that offer. I will wait for the first pre-owned ones to hit next year becasue I can't afford a new one now. Have fun with your Hummers they are like nothing else.

I am so con fused by this conversation.
so as an example:
The CH PkG I received was $850, it came with Mirrors door handles and Crossbows. If all they did was split the package, ie door handles and mirrors $400 and Crossbows at $450, isn't that still $850? You just get more choices right.
Are you saying they charged you full price for the Lux Pkg and they did not "back out" the cost of the items that were missing?
I would have that place in a tizzy...ask them to do the math.
We tend to do this in our industry as well, but we only break up the packages and price the items individually. It all works out to be the same, and it gives the customer more options.

Are you going back to the dealer?
Remind them that the JD Power surveys show up in your mailbox about thirty days later http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
