Well i thought it would never happen to me since I am an overprotective b*tch. but got in my caddy this morning and noticed some things were missing. first was my starbucks gift card was not in my dash cubby.. i was somewhat confused. got to the office and went to get my pack out of the back seat and noticed the damage. my bag had been emptied and sacked. my laptop was gone ipod, all of my medications which was quite a few (i am nuts) the fu**ers even had the time to look through the pills!!! took all my great pain meds that i got for my recent back and knee injury.. took all the good sh*t and left my prpecia for my fricken blading!! what a holes.. even left my decongestent. seriosuly what sick peopel are these. police came and saw no prints and no sign of entry. so i am guessing real professionals. no sign of window scratches or anything and the truck was locked!!
it is an 04 escalade ext. and it was parked in my closed underground lot which needs key cards to get into.. unless you follow someone into the garage. i have went off on the property manager and she is gonna look at the security tapes which only see the garage entrance and the elevtors out of the garage and have such ****ty quality that you cant even read a license plate! ready to explode over here..
i have already bought a new laptop since i need one for work (4k later).

what i want to know is how the hell did they get in? are there remote scanners and they just copied my remote signal or what? i have both keys and there was no sign of entry!!!

look under the surround that's around the handle on either DS or PS.

Look for tool marks around that plastic and around the edges of the door themselves

Tis true! Those bastards were able to get in using OnStar with simple info. All someone has to do is get your LP# of your truck, go online to get your adress and phone number, call OnStar, and they're in. OnStar is somewhat a liability IMHO!

My suggestion: EVERYONE should call OnStar and ask for a "NO EXCEPTION PIN CODE." If you forget your code, TS, you don't get in. If you do this, make sure that the only possible way is to use your PIN!

Dave, also call OnStar and ask them if your account was used to unlock your doors EVER. And if not, there ya go. FWIW!

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Being a cop for the last 10 years, I have seen many vehicles broke into. Either at the door handles as Paragon mentioned, or they had a key made. All it takes is the Vin, at which time they can go to the dealer and get a key made.

Did the cop really dust for prints, or just look at it and say, "Well, I don't see any smudges, so I am not going to dust.."? (which is they lazy cops way out...)

Ah, the old "Flashlight latent print detector" eh? Yeah, I hate to say it, but it doesn't work. The only way I could use that method and feel good about it is if either the vehicle had a layer of dust on it, and it was easy to see if anything was disturbed, or if the vehicle was black. If black you can easily see prints or smudges.

If all there were was smudges or partial prints, you probably wouldn't get an 'hit' on the prints.

As far as your medication, if you have the DR number from the officer, you should be able to submitt that to your Dr to get another prescription. Especially if the officer put in the report that your meds were stolen.

However, without prints or a witness im sorry to say that you are out of luck. You MIGHT get your laptop back if he entered it into NCIC.. Then if it shows up at a pawnshop you will get it back.. I've see that happen many times.

Good Luck.

Thats the one thing that I am dissapointed about regarding the H2 is the horn.. It sounds so tiny compared to the machine its on.

Where are you getting your Train horn? And is it a direct replacement, or do I need so additional hardware?

Thanks

Thanks They're not a direct replacement. Realwheels has a very easy one to install, but if you go the route Dan did, you'll scare the crap out of people 1 mile away!!!!

from www.hornblasters.com (http://www.hornblasters.com) no, its not a direct replacement, it an air compressor with an air tank and 4 horns. It took me about 7 hours to professionally install one in my Ram, fabricating mounting brackets, wiring switches into the cab. Its over 150 db. actually makes your ears hurt if you stand right there. hard to describe. There is so much vehicle underneath the H2. I have laid underneath the H2 for about 2 hours mentally going over what and where i need to fit it. Only space available is right under the air suspension compresors. Going to have to fabricate several brackets, and mount the airtank in the back of the trunk because the new one is 21" long. http://www.hornblasters.com/products/HB4H3G28/tc85.20050525.193949.0b7_l.jpg

heres the one I mounted under the Dodge.

yes, these are VERY loud. They will wake up the dead...

Some serious install time though to get one to fit in the H2 nicely. I'll have pics up as soon as I have time to install it.

Read through this thread (http://elcova.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/5106011751/m/7321083621/p/1) and you'll see Dan's. He eventually went with a different tank and made some other mods.

This air blower is a monster! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Being a locksmith, if there is no marks around the door handle. The SOB either picked the door lock. The door lock is equipped with a plate-tumbler door lock that can generally be picked open. Or they used a locksmith car opening tool or a colt hanger and went down the window cavity to inside of the door body to unlock the vehicle. They would have to go down about 15" inside of the door to hit the linkage rod to get the car open. Also they could have got in by wedging open the top of the door, and runing a tool down to the lock button.
Also if they had a GM pick key that had deep cuts on the key, they could have used that to pick open the door lock. The pick key only takes a second to get a vehicle unlock if you know how to use it right.

There is a "cavity" there of open space that's sort of open from frame rail to frame rail just below the fan.

yeah, already looked, nowhere near enough room. The horn are 16" wider, the longest of the 4 horns is 21" long. The tank has to be mounted in the rear, going to mount it in the trunk area on the other side of where the jack is (on the drivers side) The horns anr going to mount right under the rear near the bumper, on the bottom ot the plate that houses the air suspension compressors, i believe.

The key to getting a nice crisp blow (huh huh huh... i said blow) is by using as least ammount of air line as possible. this way i will use 3 ft at the most.

David

The GM pick keys are hard to come by. Us locksmith have to buy them through a locksmith wholesale distributors company.

As a ex-police officer, what I have seen done befor is the Bad guys will find old keys or lost keys that will fit a vehicle, they then file the key down to were it will have deep cuts on it, they then use the key to pick the lock open.I hate to say it but most of this stuff is pick up while they are in the joint- big house- pen-jail.

The person that got into your vechile was a Pro to leave no trace of entry. And they knew what they were doing.

If security would have a video tape of the area your vechile was parked in, you may want to check it out. Also you may want to check to see if they were any Tow Trucks that were in that area at the time. Some Tow Truck Drivers do carrie car opening tools.
