I an looking for a Navigation unit for my H2. I have looked at pioneer and alpine. I noticed that the pioneer does not pivot. Can't tell the view angle from the display model. Pros/cons anyone.
I still want to keep onstar and steering wheel control functions.
Thanks

I do not own either, but from my understanding the Pioneer does have some type of electronic contrast control so that it appears 'better' for the driver.
Also, both Pioneer and Alpine have touch-screen models and from what all the BMW and Lexus owners say, they are the way to go.
I can't answer your steering wheel functions.

Why don't you put in a GM factory NAV unit?

GM says it can't be done. Several of us on the forum say otherwise. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
What year H2 do you have?

I have the Alpine DVD NAV and a 5 inch screen w/speaker in a SAVV rearview mirror. The Alpine NAV is great with 10,000,000 POI

Klaus,
I have an '04 without nav and was told by the dealer that i could not install the factory one because the wiring harness is differant with the factory nav as comparewd to one without the factory nav system.
I would sure love to change out my 6 disk unit and slap a factory nav system in if there was really no work to it.
Your thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated.

I have the Elipse AVN2454. It has a great touchscreem NAV system with a seperate CD slot so you can listen to tunes while the NAV is on, as well as plays DVD's/Mp3/CDR-RW. It has a TILT version that tilts the screen at 5 different viewing angles.
With a $50 PAC unit, all of my steering wheel controls still work. I've had it for 6 months and am extremely pleased with it!!

2002 Hummer H2. Bigger is better, but this Accele 10.4" LCD screen looks right at home in this big dash. To make room for this, the factory GM radio was replaced with a smaller Eclipse and this along with the climate controls were moved down to were the On-Star and power outlets were. The On-Star was relocated into the overhead console and the power outlet moved to the left.

xonxoff,
You can retrofit a factory TNR in your 2004. 2004s have 2 different type amps, and the part number of TNR you need depends on which type amp your truck has installed.
The Bose amps were changed in mid 2004 to a lower grade model. 2003s have the "LUX" amp, just like the Cadillac Escalades. The later 2004s and the 2005s have the "premium" Bose system. You can tell the difference my the audio selections available on your radio. If your audio selections include "Normal, Driver, Rear, and Spacious" you have the "LUX" amp. If your selections include "Custom" you have the "premium" amp.
