Ya know they say simple mounting. Haha, well I guess it was simple to mount but you need small hands or long tools. You'll soon see what I mean. Congrats on your purchase.

If you want to keep yours close to stock, Stant just came out with a plain locking gas cap for the H2. Less than $20.

Make sure you specify the year of your truck. Prior to 2004 there is a different design of the tank "neck" than 2004-2005. I have the model number somewhere.

Has anybody seen those locking gas caps that have the Hummer text written on it in black? I believe the dealers sell the ones that are only chromed...

Yes, the dealers do sell those. But a word to the wise: http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
The original H2 fuel doors were CNC machined, chromed aluminum billet. The current ones are cast. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif
Cast is much less expensive to produce. If you look at it from a distance, you can see why. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I had one with the bolt heads exposed in a circle around the door, but the bolt heads all corroded and looked terrible. I got a new one through the RealWheelsACC web site. It is billet aluminum that has been powder-coated black. It looks very heavy duty, and I haven't had any problems with the lock, or the finish. They make a couple styles, but the one with the grooves look best. my opinion...

I couldn't find a Stant H2 gas cap on their website. I bought the GM cap from my dealer for $34.00 (thanks for the parts numbers Parts Guy). I played with the plastic retaining cable on the stock cap and it came out without cutting or breaking.

Simple solution to a simple problem.

Thanks,
