Anyone heard of the brand AudioVox? I can get dual DVD headrests for $300. What does everyone think?

Comes with everything including headphones.

my buddy had the AudiVox, but he didn't like it. The picture overall wasn't as crisp as he wanted it. He ended up just getting the 9" Vizualogic monitors with the headphones. He got a pretty good deal on them too.

Hmmm. Interesting. My nav screen is already connected to play dvd's and it's very clear but I wanted something for the kids in the back so they're not peaking around my seat all the time!! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif They are also right at that age where they don't agree on anything so having two seperate dvd players would work well!! No arguing in the back seat, kids!! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

It was on e-bay but the bidding went higher than what I was willing to pay so I stopped. That's why it was so low.

Aaaagh. Didn't really need it any way. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

In case you see some more and are thinking of bidding on them, AudioVox is about the bottom of the barrel when it comes to electronics brands. Like said before, you get what you pay for.

HEY now! I like my AudioVox. I have had 3. First one sucked, but its in my old truck now and I bought it in 2001. Second one was in the 03 H2. Loved it. 3rd one is in the 05 H2 and so far it hasn't had any problems. I have the single unit that flips down from the middle so the kids can see it no matter where they sit.

I had originally purchased a Rosen Entertainment system for the 05 H2, and it had a wireless remote with pre-programmed video games in it. Cool idea, but the first time I used it I couldn't get the CD to load. After I finally got it to work, it wouldn't load the second one. Of course, all this happened on a trip out in the middle of nowhere, and I had to limp home (so to speak). The kids understood (thank goodness) but it was very agrivating. Especially after spending a bunch of money for it. The game picture quality wasn't that great either. I took it back and purchased another Audiovox. I figured when your sitting 2 feet away, and your 5 years old, you probably don't know what excellent top of the line quality video looks like. I like it for what its for. Kids movies. I don't have the separate monitors in the head-rests, but I like the one in the middle.

There's my .02. Good Luck! http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

p.s. I had a terrible leak in the roof of my car 2 months ago, and water was running out of the speaker of the Audiovox DVD player. I had even found Moab Dust on the CD's while I was there but attributed that to the fact that Red dirt was EVERYWHERE. I got the leak fixed and, so far, have not had any problems with the DVD player.

Another time, my son stuffed 6 DVD's inside it at once. We managed to extract them with some medical instuments, and it's still working flawlessly. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Cheap, ****ty quality > expensive to replace good stuff any day. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I wonder what Ken thinks about this. His advise would be invaluable.

I think we bought 2 separate DVD players DURING the last Moab trip. One was an Audiovox and it choked after a few uses.

Just wondering CO, why do you use "advise" instead of "advice"? Just wondering, that's all... http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

We got THIS ONE (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Polaroid-8-Portable-DVD-Player-PDM-0822BD-/sem/rpsm/oid/123498/catOid/-13101/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do) for Reed. It's not built in, but it was inexpensive, has a swiveling display and the with the included bag, it just straps to the headrest like it was built in. Not the best, but it plays Kipper and Bob the Builder just fine.
