Got my marker lights installed a week and a half ago and love them. Twice this week I have gotten that rattling noise when on the highway. Those that had gotten theirs fixed, do you still get this noise occasionally? First time I was going about 70 but it was fairly windy that day. This morning I was doing about 80 but it was not windy. Just want find out if I should expect this or if they did something wrong on the install.

Take it back- the original problem with the marker lights was leaking and wind noise- not rattling.

Mine have been noise free from both wind and rattles. Doesn't sound normal (no pun intended), I think I'd take it to the dealer to have them check on it.

I will be taking it back when a part for the sunroof comes in so I will have them look at it then.

There has been a design change to the howd down bolts. When I had mine installed they had the new bolt design and I don't have any noise or leaks.

I knew they had done the redesign but didn't know if anyone was have the same issue just less frequent. There is no reason that mine shouldn't have been installed with the redesigned parts since it was done less than two weeks ago and the fix came out months ago. Guess there is a problem and will have them look at it.

Ok, drove on the highway more today than I normally do and I think the noise is getting worse. It isn't getting loader, just starting to happen more and more often. I am going to try to get it into the dealer right away but in case I can't, who recalls the fix that someone came up with before the redesign. As I recall they used some door end trim from an auto part store, put it along the front edge of the light assembly and the noise went away. If I can't get it into the dealer by the middle of next week I want to do this because I do not want to drive all the way to Tellico and back listening to them http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

I have that noise, took it to the dealer and they said there was a loose screw, so they did not do the fix. I need to bring it back because the noise is still there. It gets worse when it's really cold out and windy.

Did they say they tightened the loose screw on yours? I am wondering if my dealer just used old inventory that they had in stock. Or was the fix just a new install procedure, I don't recall. It was cold here and really wasn't windy but the noise was there 50%-75% of the time I was on the highway yesterday. Need to call the dealer today and see what they say.

Noise was not as bad today but stopped by an auto parts store this afternoon and picked up some door trim. This evening I put it along the front of the marker lights. As I recall, that is the fix that someone did late last summer or early fall and it worked for them. Hopefully it will work for me until it goes in to get the part they are waiting on for the sunroof.

Hey gchurchill, how's it going. We need to setup a get together for the owners in the area.
Yeah, got them installed at HOO. They did them while I was having the DVDs installed. Funny you mention the survey, my salesman called yesterday to see how I was liking the H3. We talked for a minute then he asked if I had gotten the survey yet. I knew that was probably the real reason for the call but that's ok. Haven't gotten mine yet but so far I have been happy with the dealership. I also got a message yesterday from a women at the dealership asking about my experience when I had it in for the install. Early on when the H3s were first hitting dealerships I couldn't get any info from them even though the had my deposit but since the moment I went in to close the deal they have been great.
Last night I installed the door edge trim that I picked up picked up yesterday. No noise from the marker lights this morning. I only drive about 3 miles on the highway to work but have heard it at least briefly every time the past week so thank that might work until I get it in for service. I am heading over to Cocoa to meet some friends tonight so 30 minutes each way on the Beeline should be a decent test.

Well the door trim did not work damn it http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif
Guess I will go by the dealer tomorrow and see if they can take a quick look at it.

Stopped by the dealership this morning to see if they could take a quick look at it. Didn't want to leave it but he took a quick look and thinks it is really the driver side A-pillar trim that is vibrating. I did notice when putting the door trim on the marker lights that it did seem loose but I don't think that is it. The door trip did seem to help some and if it was the A-pillar it would not have helped at all.

so are you still getting the vibrations? I dont check this as much as i want too.

I have only heard it start for a split second once since Friday night. I really think the door trim along the front edge is helping. The real test will the 1K mile round trip this weekend. I sure hope I don't have to listen to it for 8 hours each way http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif
Will update afterwards.

i think if i had a vibration for more than 4 hours, i would probably get out and break something (not the H3 though!)

I am going to be hard pressed not to do that I think http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Hadn't really gotten a chance to get up to speed on the highway lately but did this morning. Well, at 80 it does it a lot. I think I am going to try putting some electrical tape along the edge for the drive up this weekend. At least the black should blend in somewhat. I am also going to check the screws for the marker lights tonight to make sure they are all tight. From what I have found, if I keep it at 75 and below it doesn't happen much unless there is a good head wind. Hope I have a tail wind both ways http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Last night I checked the screws for the marker lights. I was able to tighten a few of them just slightly. Well, this morning I was able to get it up to 85 before I had to slow down and no noise from the marker lights at all http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Where yours originally installed before the redesign they did this fall?
Mine took a few weeks to start making noise and it steadily got worse.

Hope they stay quiet for you. I have to take mine in so they can look at them. I think I will wait another 500 miles so I can get my service done at that time as well. The trip to Tellico and back I had to keep it between 75 and 80 so I didn't get any noise from them. Over 80 is when it started unless there was a head wind.

My luck ran out. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
Had my rig since August without a peep from the marker lights...that ended yesterday. Was driving through some fairly strong winds and at about 75 to 80 mph they started to make noise.
I think I'm going to wait until the cracked roof rail recall happens and then have my dealer do the fix on the marker lights.

Sorry to hear it. They can really make some noise can't they. I am going to have them look at mine. At this point my roof rails are not cracked so that isn't an issue. I did notice that the driver's side a-pillar trim does not line up properly with the roof rail though.
