i was driving over a looong bridge today, which also happened to be a REALLY windy day and i was going about 65-70 and the roof marker lights started making the LOUD vibrating noise, so i called the dealer and they said bring it in right then, so i did and they said leave it there and theyll fix it.
well after i finally found a ride home and everything they called me at home and said no one is even going to look at it until monday, and the service guy was talking about how its "just how its designed, and that theyre loud vehicles" im thinkin wtf thats loud as hell and sounds like its going to come off.
isnt that why it was dealer installed? so they could fix that? anyways i suppose i'll be H3-less for a while http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

My dealer said the location of the roof lights is critical and that if they are installed incorrectly they can make noise.
Good Luck

Adam, when did you get them installed? They (GM) recently (within a month or two) just released a fix for that exact problem. They even issued a "do not install" bulletin to the dealers until they figured out a way to repair the wind noise issue. Call you dealer on Monday and have them check into that. If they installed them, then GM will cover the cost to either correct the current ones or replace your lights with the upgraded version. I'm not sure what they did to fix the problem. I think they added some weatherstrip or something to the front edge by the windshield. So far, they are giving you a song and a dance.

i had a similar thing happen . i do not have marker lights , while going over a mountain pass 65-70 mph in a head wind 40-50 mph . plastic a-pillar covers started vibrating and making a hellatious amount of racket . i slowed to about 50 mph and noises stoped . with such a boxy shape seems like stuff wants to start sucking off when wind speed gets around 100 mph. (your speed plus head wind) just my observation . any one have any info on windtunnel results ?

This has me thinking, cause I get a pretty loud noise similar to what you are describing at highway speeds and I do not have the marker lights either. I'm actually thinking that noise is coming from the drivers side hood vent. I think air is going through that vent in such a way that it's making a howling noise. i'm not so sure it's the A-pillars. Thoughts?

i think its the plastic cover on a pillar when washing i notice i can lift inboard edge about 1/4 inch . thinking wind gets under at it slaps back and forth actually up and down like a tap tap tap .

Neocon, you are dead on. There is a strip that catches air on your A-pillar and vibrates incessantly at highway speed. Mine was especially bad at 70 or better (not sure how much my headwind added), both sides of the windsheild, no marker lights. The dealer ended up resealing my rubber strips at my last oil change.

exactly, except mine was tapping faster than u can tap on a desk with ur fingers.
also the service guy said when i brought it in that sometimes the square vent things on the hood make a noise at higher speeds.

Had a similar noise coming from the A pilar. Told the dealer about and they told me there was a service buletin on it. Whatever they did to it, it's all good now.

Same noise on mine (no marker lights).
The plastic trim on A-pillar seems to be loose, more on drivers side than passengers. Is on my list of things for the dealer to look at (small list and fairly insignificant stuff).
Anybody know about the service bulletin soflah3 mentions? Always makes it easier when talking to the dealer if I know more than they do.

I had a loose a-pillar, at my last oil change they fixed it and realligned the door. The tech said most likley the noise was coming from the door being out of whack. The door also had something to do with the water trickeling in from high pressure car washes too.

I find no bulletin or PIs issued for the A-pillar outside moldings.

Hey f5, not sure if this will help.
"F** Windshield rattle @ HWY Speeds Cause: Not Sealed B7570 Molding, Windshild Side Pillar Reveal Right R&R or Replace"
"7223 R/R Windshild pillars to add GM seal. Reinstalled"
Or it could be as simple as the service manager telling me there was a service bulletin when there was not.....

i picked it up today. i dont even know if they did anything, but i went about 70-75 on the way home and no more noise...could be because it wasnt windy today, but its probably fixed
