If I turn the AC off, select vent, and hit the recirculate button (to recirculate air) the AC compressor runs and the AC light stays off - I can feel the cold air. If I hit the recirc. button to bring in outside air the AC compressor shuts off. This occurs with the AC button off.

Anyone else notice this?

Yeah, it's doing that on mine too. I was wondering if it was just mine that was doing it.

Mine too. I haven't read the section in the manual to see if this was intentional.

No worries. That's normal. I had the same question so I went to the dealership and asked. They said that anytime you turn the recirculation button on, the AC will automatically turn on, even if the AC button is off.

Well I think for most vehicles the recir button is to only move the air in the cabin, it does not bring air in from out side, this is used to allow the compresor to work less when the ac is on becuase it is cooling cold air. Also used when the air out side might have polution or bad smell, like stuck inside a tunnel in bumper to bumper trafic with a large buss pureing its fumes in your face. ( I think this is the idea)
