Hey,
Just wanted to know if anyone's towing a boat with the H3. I plan to get a bass boat next year and my next vehicle has to be able to handle towing a boat or pop-up trailer. Getting closer to buying and I want make sure the H3 is for me. I already have a Trans Am that I don't drive, don't have the space to park another toy.

I towed my 24 foot boat(aprox 4500#) from Los Angeles to Havasu, Arizona. No problems, no overheating. You have to take it easy. it'll do the job. I averaged 60 to 70 mph. No Problem!!

Don't be afraid. Take advantage of your warranty...

I tow 25' 3500# pontoon incl tandem trailer. Tows great. Pushbutton 4X4 lock on ramp is convenient. Turning radius when backing is much easier than Jeep Grand Cherokee. Check to see that the open H3 tailgate clears your tongue jack.(when down)

I tow a 3000lb pop-up camper loaded down and it does just fine

I've only had the chance to pull one boat - my brother's 19' (23' trailer) ~4,000 duck hunting boat (alumaweld, and for those in the know, the boat isn't that heavy but when you pull 10 dozen decoys + kayak, gear, etc., it's somewhere around 2 tons). It wasn't too much of a problem, not nearly as good as his '06 1500HD, but got better gas mileage.

One thing (and different than the other posts here), I had no problem backing the boat down with the rear hatch closed. I used to back down the exact same boat w/a '88 suburban and really I think the visibility through the mirrors is better in the Hummer. Not much, but I had no problem backing down using the side mirrors and never bothered w/the rear of the truck.

I will be towing a 12' pop-up with electric brakes. pulled it with a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 without problem and the H3 is a much better vehicle.

My only question is does anyone know if the H3 has either or a oil cooler or Trans Cooler?

I tow a 19.5' Ski Nautique, about 3500 lbs. maybe 4000 loaded. Only been out once with the H3 and it did fine.

Hey Hummer Nut, you go to Havasu alot? Check out havasudoug.com

Hey Hmrlvr,

By the pics, looks like you are in the AZ side. My pics was taken in the CA side. Place called Meadows Landing. There are quite a few places to go 4wd or test drive your H3. I wonder how many h3's we can get together in Parker/Havasu...

Thats the only thing I'm worried about as well... I have a ski boat that weighs in about 3800 lbs. Just want to make sure it will pull it without a problem.

I tow a 26 foot sailboat..a macgregor 26X...about 4000 lbs...no problem. Love the turning radius and all time drive on the road.

Hummernut, Your right, Az side. First time I took it out was on the trails behind our place. They go on forever. I'm sure some local H3ers could hook us up with some trails. I spend most of the summer there but its a little warm to be out of the water (110-120). Anytime is generally good though.

That's a big boat! Does the H3 not have a leveling system? I'm looking to pull a bass boat when i get mine.
Thanks

No leveling system...but it did OK on the interstate. A bass boat would do fine.
