I keep one on my boat. Has saved me several times from needing a tow!
I just plug it in the wall every month to insure it is charged.

Yes I do - $80 from Pep Boys and worth every penny! It has little 12v take off too so you can use it to charge a cell phone in a pinch.
I have used it on the boat (mostly helping others) way more times than on land though.

We use them constantly at my bodyshop. Last one we bought was a few weeks ago... almost 200 bucks but when you need one, you need one.
And it almost ALWAYS seems like every freakin' time I need to do something to the H2 (wiring, etc...) and I have to leave the ignition on, that damn crappy GM battery dies in less than 5-10 minutes. Just like my vette was... wtf is with GM's crappy batteries anyways?
Oh yeah, back to the original question, yes, they work great (if you buy a decent one)

I carry one. They work great. I have a power inverter and we set up TV and DirecTV when tailgaiting. If the battery gets to low I use the power box to start up. The inverter will alarm at low battery but sometimes we don't hear it.

every time i turn the H2 off and just listen to the radio for an hour or so at a tailgate the damn battery dies.
The brand i bought is called "jump-n-carry" and it is suppose to supple 1400 amps which should be plenty.
Thanks for the inputs.

I have the Vector Multi Function AC/DC Jump Start System and it comes in handy all the time.
It has...
110 Volt AC and 12 Volt DC Portable Power Supply
260 PSi Air Compressor
200 Watt Power Inverter
Fluoresant Lantern

Jump-N-Carry is a great brand. You can visit http://www.cloreautomotive.com to learn more about the Jump-N-Carry brand and others (Booster PAC and Truck PAC) They are professional units sold to mechanics and are designed specifically for jumpstarting. They are sold generally through Snap-On, Matco, Mac Tools but you should be able to find a website that sells via the internet. The Jump-N-Carry 660 should be able to start the H2 20-30 times on a single charge. If you have any additional questions please ask and I will be happy to answer. Let's just say I'm close to the inventor of this product.

The jump and carry is a very excellent product. We have 3 of them in my shop. The only problem (and it's happened to EVERY one of them) is the receptacle where you plug the ac adapter into breaks and when you think it's charging, it's not.
On two of the models, we were able to take the cover off and fix it enough to work. On the 5000 model, we just have to wrap the cord over and under the bottom to "pull down" on the plug.
Other than that, they're an excellent product. The latest one we purchased was a different brand just to try something different. (much more expensive... jury is still out so far)

PS. In all fairness, this is under day in, day out use. Batteries in bodyshops don't last long... I'm sure they take much more abuse than even in a service dept.
