Excuse the rant. Was supposed to go snowshoeing in Tahoe Nat'l Forest this weekend. 6 ft of snow, mudslides, 90mph winds pretty f'd that over. Even with chains I'm not gonna drive that far to have some jerkoff hit me because they can't drive in the snow.

So, backup plan... This morning I go duck hunting with my brother. Get all done (slow day) - I'm backing my H3 into the front yard and forgot there's a big f'ing tree there. No visibility, pouring down rain, tired from getting up early, and this is what happens.

If you can't see, there's a big freakin dent above the rear window, the window is gone, and there's a small crease in the roof. At least I've got full coverage. First time in 17 years of driving I'll have a claim on my insurance.

HAPPY FREAKIN NEW YEAR!!

I'll bet the tree wasn't there when you parked the night before. Thank God for insurance, that looks expensive!

Bummer. I always figured that most accidents in the H3 would result from backing into something. Visibility out the back is
about as bad as it gets.

I don't own a H3 yet but it's in the works..All I can say is...Man..that sucks.. I drove my Vette into the garage once a few years back and hit my snowblower...Ouch!!!

Not as much damege as your poor H3 but it still hurts the same.... Each day you should feel a litle better then the day before about the damage.. Sorry and good luck with the repair..

Well, I was dead on about H3Driver having butt hurt. That's because H3Driver = BABHUMV

Well, here's an update. I went down to the dealer yesterday and it's $2,890 to have it fixed.

New rear gate - $900
New rear window - $500
Running my new Hummer into a tree in front of the whole family on New Years - priceless

The rear gate is backordered, so it will be awhile before it's repaired. I changed out the grey ghetto tape and cheesy plastic to thicker Lexan and black duct tape - you can't even tell now unless you are right next to the truck. Hopefully the dealer will get the gate soon.

In the meantime, I took a chainsaw and cut the tree down. Made me feel better. I think I might have even destroyed a spotted owl nest in the process.

And should have a rear/backup camera for the H3 by now.
