"Auto supplier American Specialty Cars (ASC) will introduce two open-top concepts at the Detroit auto show next week, including the Hummer H3 Cosmos, the first convertible version of the popular SUV.

ASC says the Cosmos has a fabric-top system that can open the truck's cabin to the elements or cover just the passenger or cargo areas. ASC's second concept, which has yet to be announced, will feature a panoramic sunroof.

Last year, ASC worked its convertible magic on the Chrysler 300C, creating the Helios, a four-door convertible that drew much attention at the 2005 North American International Auto Show.

What this means to you: Good news for sun worshippers. ASC may offer the Hummer convertible system as an aftermarket conversion package at some point."

Nice, but why bother. The factory sunroof does a great job of getting sun onto the 2 most important passengers in the front seats. And it seals very well when closed.

I guess those other GM trucks with similar setups are popular.

I'm wondering if the "panoramic sunrrof" is the long talked about "skyroof." I can't wait to see that.
