Question to H3 standard version

Hello to all! Great site I have to say. Just ordered my first H3 in black over here in good ol' Germany.

Just one quick question which I was unable to answer as I have never seen an H3 yet and my GM dealer here in Hamburg, Germany has neither seen one either... (I know this sounds weird, but oh well, at least he accepts orders!!)

I ordered the standard version but I could not find anything on the seat's height adjustment. I know that the lux comes with a 8-ways power adjustment, So my question: Can you adjust the driverseat's height manually in the standard version?

No. There is no height adjustment. Just a lever to move the seat forward and back, and a lever to lay the seat back.

Thanks for the quick reply. Will check with the dealer whether I can get the height adjustment also in the Standard.

I am 6'4" and wondering if the standard package seat is at the lowest position and the Lux package only raises the seat? Or does the Lux package allow a lower positioned seat? Any help in Hummer land?

I am not sure about the height difference between the lux and standard. I am 6' and the height of the standard seat is good. Shorter drivers might feel like the should be sitting higher.

The manual seat also has a lumbar adjustment.

Well after giving it a lot of thought I finally ordered through our local GM Dealer (Dello)because I wanted to have some dealer close by. I have to admit it is a bit tiresome with them as they do not have a clue about Hummer yet. Although they are officially Hummer Dealer since a couple of months. I was thinking of getting it through a US importer but the 3 year warranty made me think otherwise.

Problem is that neither me or them have a clue about the specs of the so called "Euro Version" For example this seat issue. I am now considering of getting the lux package instead of the standard as I kinda like to have a seat height adjustment. (Not that I need it http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) and my girlfriend keeps on bragging about the seat heating.... http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

About delivery times: Well I hope to get it latest by November, but they simply cannot give me a definite answer. (Drives me mad) Apparently there is a holdup with the Euro Version as the authorities do not allow the towing hooks infront...

To be honest I believe they are just telling me BS since they do not have a clue either.
Did u order a US Model or a Euro Model?

They refit everything which needs to be done to the US version to be streetlegal in Germany (removing the yellow "Standlicht", adding a rear fog lamp etc.). You get the car complete with German papers... everything ready to register it. You even get the special allowance to have small numberplate (1 letter, 1 number or 2 letters and 1 number) and all that stuff. Full service there... and they know all the details about the H3 and HUMMER in general. Mine is a black/black with lux pkg., automatic transmission, chrome appearance pkg., chrome wheels (painted black now), black front brushguard and black tubular sidesteps. So pretty complete. The brush guard was delivered a little later, but the car looks and feels perfect for the first 1.600 miles. No regrets so far. Ditched my girlfriends thoughts about getting a Cayenne or new ML, because I wanted the H3 so badly. Congratulations! to ur new Baby. I have to admit I am a bit jealous http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif simply because it seems that I missed the first train, although I am running after this car for a year or so.

UsCars24? They are quite good. I had these guys on my list as well. Problem is that today even the US imports are scheduled with 10 to 12 weeks... So I figured I might as well get one of the first Euromodels. Although clueless, my GM Dealer can give a really great price and I can trade in my old if haven't sold it by then.

Coming back on the US specs. It seems that it is not so much the TUEV who creates the problem. If you import a US model there is plenty of room to accept certain things, but if you want to make the model ready to be sold big time in Europe the Kraftfahrtbundesamt wants you to make it fit into all our tight European legislations. In some cases this involves the question if a pedestrian can get seriously wounded by crashing into one the tow hooks, regardless of the fact that he gets hurt anyway if I run him over. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif But that's Europe.

Anyway on Thursday I expect to get some more news regarding delivery and specs. I'm seriously thinking of taking the Lux now instead of the standard. Too bad you don't have a manual transmission, I really would like to know how it performs. I know automatic is more suited to these kind of cars but for some reason I love manual.

I could imagine that a huge majority of people being interested in the H3 (or HUMMER in general) are not willing to accept a manual transmission. So when (at some point in the future) you should consider selling your H3 again, this might become a serious problem (especially since it is such an exotic in Germany).

I know for sure that it is really hard to sell Euro-SUVs (Touareg, ML, X5, Cayenne) with a manual transmission. Don't think that would change for the H3.

Bear in mind that the Europeans use manuals far more than Americans. Most rental cars I've gotten in Europe have been sticks.

But there's an unwritten law that comfy offroaders have to have an auto transmission. Small or non-comfy offroaders may have a stick transmission.

Also sedans (Mercedes, Audi etc.) above 200 bhp need an auto transmission to keep a good residual value. Believe me... I've had a lot of personal experience with this point. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
