I am getting new 20 wheels and the pressure monitors stem fits OK and does not leak, they stand up slightly inside the rim. Is this OK. On the factory wheels they sort of lay down on the rim inside.
This is becuae the angle of the stem opening is at a different angle as the factory one

I would say they should not be affected. The stem is the mounting point for the sensors, and since they are not heavy and there should not be flexing inside the rim, the stem should hold them in place ok.
Some important things to remember. Make sure to torque the nut to 7 N.m (62 in-lbs). The cap is aluminum, the step is nickel plated for a reason, so if replacing the cap. make sure to use an aluminum cap. The cap, along with the stem are used as the antenna to signal the system
To prevent any TPM messages, try and keep the same sensor at the same corner of the vehicle. The system has an auto re-learn, but you will have a message displayed until the system re-learns the sensor positions. Keeping them in the same location prevents these messages.
