Here's the reason why I haven't been around the forum lately. 2004, black, standard package, with leather, sunroof and 6 CD changer. This H2 was in the first shipment of the 2004s on 9/15. My face still hurts from driving with an ear-to-ear smile. Woo hoo!!!

A note of caution to anyone with garage height limitations. This H2 sits 1 1/4 inches above spec, i.e. it measures exactly 79 inches vs. the the published dimensions of 77.8". I've alread scraped the top on a low spot in my garage complex. I'm told by the dealer that the springs might settle 1/4" or so, but not much more. The dealer hasn't experienced this before and said something may have changed in the 2004, so be careful if height is an issue for you.

I see that everyone's questions have been answered on the 2004, but if you want see pics of anything specific just let me know (besides the Nav system, which I decided against). Thanks to all my friends and good people of the forum who have contributed over the past year. I'll be posting more pics as I add stuff.

Congratulation Z.
Smart move to go with 04, black on black, and it looks far better without the brush guand and roof racks. There is absolutely nothing you need to add to this beauty, except the tube steps.

Show us some detail photos. I know someone has showed a few photos of '04 already, but I personally would like to see many more details. I also would love to see the Hummer photos on the NYC streets with real life people and traffic.

Cover that I bought from/through Jason. I have to say this cover is awesome and I highly recommend it. Extremely light and easy to fold up and store, takes 3 minutes on or off.

By the way I should mention that you do not see the antenna in my photos because I removed it. It's about 9 inches above the top of the rig, and scrapes all around in my garage complex. Funny because I get all the NY radio stations fine even without the antenna but I'm going to replace it with a shorter one in any case.

Z -

Are you saying that your antenna was attached to the roof as opposed to the side air intake as shown in some other pictures of the 2004 H2?

Let us know...

It is on the air intake, not the roof. I meant that the antenna is something like 40 inches total and about 9 inches above the top of the H2.

Man, that's a nice looking rig. My 2003 rig measures almost exactly 78" and I have the air suspension option too. Did you take the roof cross bars off or not even get them at all??

Thanks Tex. I didn't even get the cross bars as I don't think I'll ever use them and the H2 barely fits as it is. I also like the look without them.

In case anyone wants to measure the height, the highest point of the H2 is in the rear, in the center of the roof about 6 inches forward of the corner lights. I used a 3 foot straight edge with a level on top to get the exact height, which is a bit above 79". The corner lights are about 1/2" lower, and at the corners the H2 measures 78 1/2" high.

Congrats Zazing!

Have you seen the "Brooklyn's at all; cause I haven't heard from them regarding the NY Dinner?

Zazing,
Can you tell me if the rear seat is equipped with three sets of the LATCH system safety seats?
No one has been able to tell me..
Can You Please?
Also was it a hassle to order it without the roof bars?

Thanks
Larry

Interesting... I did not know the antenna is that tall, 40". It sure must be very tempting to any teenager. Wonder why that tall? obviously no need, as our 03 shorty proved that. Every modern auto is going toward short or no attenna sticking out, the 04 H2 is going the other way. Wonder if you can bend it and hook the tip of antenna at the rear, just like the military Hummvee. Do you have a photo of that entire antenna on the Hummer before you removed it?

I might be interested in getting one for my Hummer just for the look. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Thanks everybody.

HeeHaw, I bought the SMA heavy duty brushgard (from Jason, his service is great by the way) and the rear lamp guards off eBay, and will add those hopefully this weekend. That’s all I plan to add at the moment.

MAC, good thinking, I too realized I can fold the antenna back and have to just create a simple hook from a clothes hanger to the roof rails. Problem solved.

ICE, the crossbars are an accessory to the H2 so it’s actually easier to order without the crossbars. When I was about to drive the H2 away from the dealer one of the salesman said “why does it not have the parts on it” and it was the first naked H2 he saw before. He said 90% of people get chrome, and 99% get some combination of crossbars, brushgards and steps. I have to get back to you on the seat belt question (sorry).

Kelley, I now have every incentive to make that trip to CA. As soon as I can swing a few weeks away from the office I’m there. Maybe we have to set up a camping trip somewhere in the middle in the meantime. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Whitebeast, I spoke to the Brooklyns a couple weeks ago and they can’t make it. Nice job on putting that together. I’ll be watching you guys on the news. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

ICEMAN, the 2004 does have 3 sets of latch seatbelts in the back. The kind that go across your chest and around your waist.

I measured the whip antenna out of curiousity and it's 36" long.

Oh, another another nuance with the 2004. The Stant locking gas cap models that fit the 2003 don't fit the 2004. Hummer apparently changed the design and Stant won't know what model fits for some time. Now I am so paranoid about parking in the streets becuase of this. If anyone finds a locking cap that fits let me know.

Zaz:

First of all, congrats on the new ride! Have you driven it at night yet and tried the high beams? On the 2003's, the blue high beam indicator lamp is VERY BRIGHT - to the point of distraction (and, IMHO, a safety factor.) Tell us, did they fix that on the 2004's or does it still put out more lumens than your average arc lamp?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Hi,

Congratulation with your new baby.

Who is your contact at Paramus Hummer?
I want to go see dealership on Monday.

Alan, I sent you a private topic on how to get some $ off at Paramus. Good luck.

Apex I drove with my high beams last night and the indicator is in not distracting. Fits in with nicely so I think they adjusted this.

I have to say that I like how user friendly everything is from the driver's perspect. For example the high beams, pull once to flash someone, push to turn on. A/C, heat seats, A/C, personal tip data...all designed with few buttons and easy to become second nature.
