Ford F350 - lift question

Figured this was the best place to ask....

A buddy of mine wants to put 35"-37" tires on his truck. What would you recommend doing without getting a suspension lift? Basically, what's the most inexpensive but efficient solution? I'm not too familiar with leveling kits and how they effect the ride. Also, there's always a nasty gap with body kits. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

you just need springs and shocks i think.. ebay has some good deals for those trucks.. i know my buddy just got some for his 250

a Body lift is gonna be the cheapest way to go......if you get gap guards it will hide the gaps between the body and the frame......had a 3" Body and 35's on my old 150 looked great

If you use a body kit, it would be a little less expensive, you can buy covers for the gaps. But must keep adjusting the body mounts so often. I personally went with an 8" lift. leaf springs in the front and also replace the back ones with a heavier ones. Now I can carry over a 2000 Lbs on the back of my truck. I did it because I tow my toyhauler. like I said, I lifted it 8" suspension with 37" inch tires. I spent around $3500 bucks (suspension,tires, wheels and labor. Shocks were included).

Thanks Hummer Nut. Your truck looks great! How dramatic is the difference in acceleration with the 37's? I don't imagine it'd being that bad with the turbo deisel. I was surprised how much pick up those things had.

No dramatic change. I have a V-10. That means less horsepower than a Diesel one. Mpg has come down. Also notice a little shaking on take-off. I was told to replace drive shaft to one piece drive shaft. I pull my toy-hauler with no problems. Excellent view sitting high.

97 F350 with 4" Rancho Lift. 35" tires, but I wouldn't go with 37's because of rubbing. We also put spacers behind the front bumper so the tire wouldn't rub when turning and gave it enough space to put chains on without them teariing it up. The shocks are the Rancho 9000 adjustable. Then new wheels and tires. It adds up.
I can't recall how much it cost to lift it.

I called 5 different tire shops, and all of them said the BFG 315/75/16's are either on back order or are being discontinued. What's up with that? I'm thinking about the Nitto Terra Grappler ATs same size.....its the only A/T that I like besides BFGs. Anyone hear of the 35" BFGs being discontinued?
