I just called the dealer and they told me that a new air-filter for the H3 is $55.oo(canadian) and one for a Colorado/ Canyon is $17.oo http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif. Is there a difference or are they the same with different part numbers?

A K&N filter has same part # E-0773 and mine cost $48.00 at pep boys or buy on Ebay

Thank you. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>The Colorado filter is the same, but the K&N will allow the engine to get more air, and you should increase MPG enough in 10,000 miles to offset the higher cost of the K&N.

Key words are "should increase." Any guarantees?
There is a guarantee that a foam type filter does allow for more air flow, but that also means more dirt into the engine...that has been proved in tests.
I would recommend going with the C/C if it does fit. (I'll look this up tomorrow AM, just to be sure.)

(I'll look this up tomorrow AM, just to be sure.) </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Only guarantees is a difference in the way the engine breaths...but by changing to the E-0773, the MPG increased 2-3 MPG. That is not much but over the long haul it will pay in gas savings. By the way, the K&N is not foam, but it is made of cotton with a light filtering oil.

Foan, cotton, I meant the same. Strange, any real controled testing I have seen has never shown any increase in MPG that is noticeable (less than 1 mpg).

I would go with the Colorado air filter. Mark 923 is correct. I guess Hummer is adding their "Hummer Tax" which is similar to the "Corvette Tax." Meaining, anything that says Corvette or Hummer is more expensive.

I hear you on the HUM-VETT tax so the air box is the same and filter same ? how about price on paper from pepboys or napa etc. and to horse power claims I call bs lots of people drill holes in stock air box on vetts and get same increase as all the after market kits get but getting more air means your getting more dirt particles too .
