I did a search and really couldn't find anything on the Break-in period. My dealer didn't mention anything in particular.
Just did the usual kept the RPM's low and tried to vary my speed when highway driving.
I typically change the oil at 1000 on a new car. My last Wrangler had some little metal shaving's after a 1000 miles, not a ton but enough to warrent an oil change IMO.
What's everybodys take on mobile synthetic? Most of my GearHead buddies swear by it. They say its well worth the extra cost?
Thanks

I think its worth the extra money, you can stretch out your oil changes I generally go 10k between changes when I use synthetic in my cars

I have 5300 miles on mine and still waiting for first Oil Change.I will be switching to Mobile Synthetic when the time comes.I still have around 68% oil life left.

change the oil at 5k miles. the dealer told me the hummers come with synthetic from the get go, but in actuality i dont really care that much about the oil it uses or when its done as long as its reasonable... and 5k seems reasonable to me!

I know have 250 miles on my H3 so I am a bit away from my first Oil Change. My question is do any of you trust 3rd party oil change places or do you swear by the HUMMER dealer?
I was curious because as you know the dealers are always more expensive.
Thanks.

How do you know what % oil life you have left?

New to me that H3s come with syntetic oil! I would guess H3 Builder can answer that one.
Except for the first oil change, which I do at 2K, I follow the oil change light.

psywzrd you can sign with Onstar and each month they send you an email on how your H3 is running.

I get free oil changes for the life of the vehicle as long as I own it at the dealership I purchased from http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. They really have been great to deal with and lots of perks!

I believe break in period is 500 miles, the owner's manual discusses this. I think it recommended not driving faster than 55mph during this period, but I could be wrong. I also have the Onstar monthly email which is great.

Previous threads have talked about how the quick lube places made a mess of the truck because they didn't remove the skid plates. Sounds like changing yourself or taking to dealer is best option.
Did anyone one get their Onstar diagnostics update for December? I didn't get mine. I got October and November very early in the month.
I changed mine after 5000 miles
