See now I am getting worried. I bought the new lux h3 w/out the adv package b/c I wanted the chrome wheels. I live in Long Island, and if you don't know it is very flat here. The extent of my offroading will be the beach, and maybe some rough terrain. No heavy climbing or ditches and such. Am i missing the boat here, or will what I have be sufficient for my needs. HELP!!! I could prob still get a diff one.

Its worth the extra cash.If you can change it I say do it.The adventure comes with 33 inch tires (it looks better also and they have reinforced sidewalls)you get the rear locker , granny low gear and off road suspention.Look at both at dealer.
Are you buying from ramp hummer thats were I got mine.I beleve you can get the chrome rim package with the adventure.

The chrome wheels are easy (and cheap) to get on Ebay.

The other stuff that comes with the adventure package is expensive to get aftermarket... Locking differeential, transfer case... VERY expensive to retrofit.....

I'd get the adventure if you plan to wheel it and the buy the bling aftermarket...

screw the adventure package you dont need it.. i have gone wheeling and stayed in the normal drive mode the whole time and the h3 does fine. how often are you going to be using it... its nice ill admit but sheeeyit do you really need to spend the xtra money? if you can then go ahead if not, its not a necessity.

I have a base model with some other options and it is awesome, it does everything I need it to and more. I didn't go with the lux because I personally like the cloth better, and could care less about heated seats and such. I spend 95% of my driving time on the highway and it has been great. I originally ordered an adventure and changed it to a base, because I will go offroad some, but not enough to make it worth spending the extra $. If you have unlimited funds, get it, but if not I wouldn't worry about it.

If your never going to anymore than driving on gravel roads, save your money. The basic H-3 will most likely do very well in the Long Island winters. I am not much of a sand expert, but I am sure there are tires for it. The taller low range might even be better for that.

I don't need the 33inch tires, but like the look of them. They seem to fill up the wheel wells better and make it look more hummer-like. If you like the style of wheel but chrome, you can get ones like this:

got ya. Its not about the funds, as a matter a fact I spend more money on the car with the chrome wheels (40,000). If I could have gotten the chrome wheels wit hte off road package I would have, it just isnt an option unless you after market. I just wanted to make sure that the base could handle some basic offroading.

I didn't go to ramp I went to Sun Pontiac/GMC/Hummer in Wantagh, NY. They are great there. If anyone ever needs a Hummer in NY give them a call and ask for Scott. Tell him Brett recommended him. I got best price there by far!!!!!!!!!!!!

For what you get with the offroad package, I think it is definitely worth the money, even if you don't necessarily need it. Personally, I'd rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it. And the offroad package will probably help with resale/tradein value down the road.

tru tru tru... I just wanted to get the chrome wheels with it. I'm not that big on aftermarket wheels and such, so I wanted to choose one or the other incase I never did any work to it like that. Then I got on this forum, and I heard so much about the adv.
I must agree with you though it is probabaly better to have then not. I just don't know if I will ever need it. I can't beat this thing up too bad, as I work in a corporate setting, and routinely need to bring corporate bigwigs around in my car/Hummer. I guess I sold out for the BLING!!

I thought that they made they chrome factory wheels available with the adventure/off road suspension some months back. Originally you could not get them that way but I believe you can now if you order. Anyone know for sure?

Guess I remembered wrong. I would keep an eye on Ebay for them. I recall seeing a set on there and they were fairly cheap.

Keep an eye on Ebay for the tires? I already got the one with the chrome wheels. I am actually leaving my office in a few to go get it. I am psyched. Boulder Grey/lux w/ Navi chrome package/chrome wheels, moonroof, satellite etc. Coming soon some sort of roll bar and pia's.
It is supposed to be a blizzard in Long Island this weekend, and I live right on the beach. Can anyone guess what I am thinking????

Congrats on going to pick it up. If you decided to go with the adventure instead you could watch for the chrome wheels on Ebay. Thought you were thinking about not getting the lux. Post some pics when you can and have fun in the snow.

i might just end up getting some bigger tires and keeping the Chrome Wheels... I do not think the other advantagees of the adv package will be that important to me... At least I hope not!!!!

The lux will be fine. It is still a very capable vehicle and you're gonna love it! Congrats and make sure to post pics.

Hell, any H3 be it Base, Aventure or Lux is more capable than most of those Trail Rated Jeeps sold these days http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Click on the "Add Attachment" clink just below where you type the reply, select the image and click "Post Now" button. If it is over 250K (I believe that is the size) it will have to be resized.
