I've seen H2's for rent..
Your renting one would seem to suit your purpose.

Come on guys, I knew we would get the smartass replies, but do any of you have a real responses other than NC?

This post is intented to find someone who owns an H2 as a second vehicle and would rent it to my company, or to get some good suggestions on where to get a 3 month lease.

DRTYFN
10-01-2003, 01:03 PM
What did you really expect? Someone to loan you an H2 for a nominal fee?
Actually, you got treated pretty well considering the ridiculous request you made.

You know why you came here? Because you probably already went to the rental companies and found out how prohibitively expensive it would be. Why don't you purchase/lease the H2 and write off as much as you can?

For your company's sake, I hope you're not in charge of anything important.

Todd, why did you signed up for 2 forum names to ask one question?
I gave you a straight offer, $30,000 for 3 months. It may seem expensive to you, nevertheless, that was a straight answer, you just don't like the answer.
NC gave you suggestions, what did you do with them? you snapped at us and expected us to take you seriously when you try to treat us like yahoos or children. You don't even have the basic manner to thank NC for the trouble he took to answer your question.

Good lord...you people (DRTYFN) are a bunch of JACK ASSES!

Yes I expected to get flamed for having this request posted, but not to the point that you think it is a seriously stupid request.

YES, I am absolutely aware of how much it costs to rent an H2 - $2000/week. And YES, I though if I offered a personal owner a portion of that money, they might be interested. If I owned an H2 as a second vehicle and some company offered me several thousand dollars for a 3 month rental for something that could actually be a cool...I would definitely consider it! Why not, you would make money and get to see your vehicle used in a very cool promotion.

Apparently the folks on this board (except Steve R. who I met on the DISCOWEB site) are not a very intelligent community with relative and constructive suggestions. I got more info from the folks who own Land Rovers then all of you, and they laugh at H2 owners all day long. (except Steve R.)

Thanks for nothing. I am glad I own a Land Rover if this is the type of people I would encounter in an H2 outing or event.

I had my associate post this originally, but when I read the replies he was getting, I decided to post an additional message to try and get some better suggestions.

THANKS NC & MAC for your REAL answers!

Todd,

Why don't you buy it used and then sell it when you are done? Check the wholesale blue on the H2 given the miles, calculate the wholesale blue after the new miles you will be driving. I am sure the difference will be minimal given the 04's are just arriving (depreciation is already built in). This has got to be your best deal. You might even get away even on this if you work at it and only pay for the gas. There is really no risk this way you just have to secure the vehicle. I would consider it an investment with a return of 24K (2k per week for 12 weeks to rent), not really a return I guess but your net will be close to zero.

Is there a reason you won't do it this way?

DRTYFN
10-01-2003, 03:38 PM
Todd,
You sniveling little pussy.
When you don't get someone to lay their H2 at your feet you resort to such petty tactics as saying Discos laugh at H2s(like we give a ****). Did you think that H2 owners are a bunch of inept buffoons because the Disco owners say we bought "grocery-getters"? Is that your management style? I bet you're just like that manager in the movie "Office Space".
Why didn't you contact your local Hummer dealership or Gm corporate and try for a sponsorship? Maybe because you have a really small reptilian brain and sponge off the ideas of others? Or maybe you did, and you rubbed them the wrong way, just like you did to us. Prick.
Can't wait to give your company a call and ask about you and then post your coworkers' opinions here. Sound like fun? I does to me. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I'm betting that you're a real treat to work with, you dick.

DRTYFN - for what it is worth...

I am currently in touch with the Hummer marketing department in South Bend, IN. They are reviewing the details of the promotion. I have also spoke with several dealerships - who by the way currently do not offer 3 month lease programs. Do you know of any that will?

What on earth would make you think it is a stupid idea to ask proud H2 Hummer owners if they want to get their vehicle involved with a program for our countries armed forces? Is that really that stupid of a questions to ask?

Better yet - why don't you just call me personally at my office? I would be happy to hear your justification for this BBS flame in person. - 858.837.0631 call any time please!

I considered the request of the original poster. It be nice to rent my truck out for 3 months and get back a couple grand to pay for a roof rack, winch, etc...

Unfortunatley my H2 is not my second vehicle, and I can't even imagine driving my wife to work every day in her car! Bleh!

It's not uncommon for people to look to personal owners to rent their vehicles. Many of the vehicles for show at the Texas Truck and SUV show were other peoples personal vehicles used to display after market products.

Movie companies rent people houses for movie shoots. Like I said, just ignore the asses on this board.

I actually appreciate Dennis' pics. They tend to emeluriate a situation with laughter instead of it escalating into threats e.g. the taco fiasco, but hey that's my type of humor for others it may not seem funny.

Detonate, 2004 kicks ass like the 2003. When the 2005 comes out we can argue about that too! That's what forums are for but I really don't consider Dennis a troll and DRTYFN just seems to say what's on his mind (most of us probably hold back) but I think he processes out loud and while typing. I can appreciate that too particularly with the fact that he'll back up on an issue with more information.

Let's save the heat for the real trolls like the rock crawling tacos that CONTINUALLY come to this board and I have no idea why. Here is a real pic of a taco that followed us on the dirt access roads at the end of our white mountain run and proceeded to pick a fight with Steve R. Dennis,

The file was to large but it's up now.

The deal is that AFTER we had completed the trail we exited the black diamond rating and ended up on a dirt access road that eventually led to a town in Big Bear. While 25 Hummers were slowly cruising out a taco approached, turned and started to follow. I was toward the end of the pack so I didn't see him but knew he was there by CB. Anyway all the Hummers pulled into a lot (pictured above) I pulled directly behind Steve to see this redneck in his taco (multiple colors) giving Steve crap. Now honestly, Steve was not egging this guy on with tone or gestures but this guy just had something up his ass calling H2's pieces of **** and H1's with junky engines on and on. Steve tried to say "hey we're just out here to have a good time" but this guy would not let it go. I've seen this before a hundred times. He wanted Steve to mouth off so he could jump out with his filet knife but Steve refused. I listened closely with my co-pilot while not making eye contact with this guy. The site you were looking at is of pics my buddies and I share back and forth. The "pencil" you're referring to is actually a .50BMG shell and the "gang signs" were supposed to parody the SnoopDogg that we was on the stereo. We were having fun.

OR, he'll end up in jail like the two rednecks who stabbed two friends of mine while on an expedition to Kent State University. That was in 1991 and they're still in prison. After some of our group figured out what had happened the two stabbers were on the ground being kicked to a pulp. Lucky for them the cops arrived. They were really a mess. Same deal, we invaded their space (over 100 of us), the townies got pissed off (drunk) pulled the knives and here we are. I knew EXACTLY the type of guy this was. Ok, DRTYFN here is the deal. I have reached the conclusion that I will have to rent an H2 from a shop in Los Angeles. That is where I have received the best quote of $14K.

Since you somehow think this is a fake or something illegitimate, I will return to this board with photos of the wrapped H2 at one of the events as proof.

I have no issues with H2 owners or the vehicle in general like some of the Land Rover owners on the DWEB. It is all good fun just to get in the dirt and have a good time.

Sorry you didn't like the way I began this post, I sincerely thought I might get a good suggestion off this board that would allow me acces to an H2 for less than $14k.

Stay tuned for the photos...

Todd,

Check Team Chevy Hummer on Coloroda Blvd. They had a wrapped H1 that's just sitting on the lot. Tell them Jason told you about it and talk to Jeremy Gump.

If that doesn't work call R.B. Tech in LA. They do work for 310 motoring and have many contacts. They work on H2's all the time.

I should have thought of these first but they just came to mind.

I just paid $87 billion dollars to teach Iraqis internet skill, among other fancy steps, you are telling me the mighty US Army can't afford to buy a Hummer, or have to send a Land Rover driver guy around to a Hummer site to find a bargain rental?

My guess, if this dude countered my $30,000 offer with a low ball, $5,000, after counter and counter-counter offers, someone on this forum will take a $6K, $8K, $9K rental deal. Instead he started attacking people he wanted to do business with. US DOD depend on people like that to do shopping?

Detonate,
Nobody asked for you to shoot your mouth off. If you re-read the thread you would have noticed that your buddy Todd was the first one to get pissy. Up to that point it was pretty good natured ribbing.

Todd came in here and asked a (silly)question. We replied in a good-natured manner. Todd got snotty, and acted like we were goofing off when we should be making his job easier. That's when things started to escalate. Then you have to stick your nose into things and flail around like an oafish lummox. If your reading comprehension was a little higher you might have understood what was going on.
Now go wash the sand out of your crack and you'll feel better.

DRTYFN

Alec,
It started out good natured at first. A couple of people actually gave him some decent info. Then he got an attitude and things went downhill after that. He knew how much it would cost going to a rental agency, and yet he came here and low-balled us.
Also there's the issue of liability. What if soemthing should happen while Todd is driving someone else's H2? Who do you think his company is going to go after. GM, the insurance company and the poor sap that good-heartedly rented his prized H2 to help out this ninconpoop. But does Todd think about that? No. Judging from his first post, he probably doesn't think that far ahead.
If it was your idea to send him here, why didn't you give him an introduction? Probably because you knew better.

What's worse than a bad offer? no offer at all. My $30,000 was the first and still only offer. Everyone has a price, for $30K, maybe I'll go through the trouble. For some of you maybe it is $5K. Once an offer is on the table, we are in business, if that Todd is smart enough to counter that, he could've a $6K deal from someone by now. I did him a favor he was not smart enough to grab it.

One of the many folders in my briefcase now is a $1.2 Million annual contract. I made the first quote this AM, they will come back to ask for less. I built in $100K+ for the expected back and forth, it will drag on. If I started with the real price, I would have no room to move down. Nobody takes the first offer, this is not kindergarten play. For new clients, when they don't come back, often that is sign of a not-serious buyer. You have to judge that, we see green kids wasting time on deadend deals.

When you get a high price from a dealer, you don't snap and call the dealer JACKASS. In business, we are trained to judge clients and spot fraud by what they say and do and how they say and do it.

Alec, from time to time, people I know asked me to introduce them to bankers, lawyers, judge or to join a club. I am usually very careful, unless I know the person very well. Because what they do to/with others will be a reflection of me, my reputaion and ability to judge will be on the line. But this Hummer site thing is no big deal at all. Who cares if he is for real, smart or stupid, rude or Disco. Can't think of one reason why it matters to you or me.

NCHummerman and Detonate, I am acknowledging your offers. We are meeting with the client today to discuss the budget for the Hummer rental. I will let you guys know what the outcome is.

MAC - You crack me up. Guess what, if I go out and rent an H2 for $14K, guess who's tax dollars just paid for that - that's right yours! Instead, you could have collected the cash yourself and spent it on your rig.

Obviously neither of you have any clue what it is like to work for an advertising agency. RULE #1 -never disclose who your client is or what your budget is and be as vague as possible to get your answers until the deal is public.

Frankly I don't think it is necessary to tell you what my business is to get a simple suggestion of where to find an H2 for rent.

Todd, you just don't get it. You could have gotten it much cheaper from someone else here, but you turned mean too early. I spelled it out for you, elementary, but somehow you still don't get it. drop it.

It is always a mistake to think yourself smarter than others, your arrogance is too obvious. We are all getting tired and bored about this subject. How about drop this one, and do an extreme makeover and come back as a nice guy, then we can all engage in normal fun conversation? or just use another forum name, your got several names here already.

I still think you can get it from the dealer cheaper than the deal you have already negotiated. Again, Team Hummer in Pasadena has a couple of wrapped Hummers just sitting around. I am sure they would like to make some money renting them out. You never responded to my suggestions so I'm not sure if you just don't take them seriously.

Call Jeremy Gump 626-449-3333, Jeremy is the owners son (Dad is now retired so junior runs the show). I really think he can help you. He also has an H2 that he destroyed off-road 8k in damage that has since been repaired but is sitting on the lot for (as-is). He would probably love to rent that one out for a few months.

He does not thank anyone nor answer anyone who helped him, unless when challenged and only then. This happened repeatedly in this topic. I worked with advertising agency for 27 years, what makes him think it is anything unique?

How can you turn against your own long time forum friends like Dennis and Drtyfn for a shifty lying ungrateful new comer? Is that how you treat your old friends in real life? Before anyone blame our own longtime members in defense of this Todd or whatever and how many names he uses, let me ask you if this is what you say when you come to Hummer site in good intention to ask for help? before anyone was nasty to him.

Alright, I give in and I will not return to H2Source again. I went back and read the posts on the first page after my associate's (mwill9530) original post. The reason I jumped in extends from these two replies:

- "For your company's sake, I hope you're not in charge of anything important."

- "Most of these members can't even wait till morning to get in their H2s and you expect a serious response???"

So my response was apparently out of line after reading this. But I was not expecting to get this kind of reply. So, fine, you win, please except my sincere apologies for offending anyone on this board. It was not my intention, I was really just looking for help from the H2 experts.

I certainly don't think posting a request like this is some sort of outrageous thing. Yes, I actually thought that someone on this board might be willing to rent me their own personal H2 for a generous fee. If all of you think that is a stupid idea, what can I say. I thought many of you actually owned these as second vehicles and may not use them on a regular basis. I am not in the business of acquiring vehicles for every promotion we do. This is a new deal for our agency and we have never had to rent such a high profile vehicle for such a short period of time.

Once again, thanks to those who did offer information and my apologies to all.
