Got reply email today from the accessories guy at Moore Hummer in Chantilly. He said that they (I am assuming GM but not sure) are taking orders now for the flares and he has the first set coming to him.

Just an fyi for those interested.

I am not feeling those at all the step in the side they make IMO looks horrible.

someone should make them exactly like the oem flares but 3-4" wider IMO.

I would never buy those..... never .....again just my opinion.....

my god are they serious with the pricing?

unreal...

i do like them better than the others.

looks like they are trying to pay for the tooling used to dev the flares with one sale..

who would actually spend that?

those ones out of japan might look a lot nicer without the chrome trim around them. i think the chrome ruins it for me at least....

now those Look a lot better, but still don't address the problem. the little "triangle" cut-out at the base of the front fender. you know, the one that sprays mud, water, salt, stones and....stuff all the way to the roof. I'm sure that these flares and the husky flaps would reduce a great portion of the flingin stuff, but sure would be nice to get it all in one shot. looks like the mud flaps will have to be customized for the flares as well as the rocker bars. A lot of parts fittin up in that little corner. All in all, i'm willin to purchase based on the looks. thanks for the pics Hummbebe.

hemmbebe, along with your "special" http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gifprice, did he mention how they install? glue, rivet, screws? and did he mention anything about mudflap interferance? thanks and make sure you get pics up. hey, are you gonna get those linex'd too?

HummBebe
03-07-2006, 08:36 PM
They attach like a regular fender, w/clips. Yes you will need to drill http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

PS the price installed was more than the $299.95 on the site. Thats between me and my dealer. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Yes I will line-X, and then have them installed by the dealer.

Not likely that the mudflaps will work, but being that they did not take that into consideration during development, he is going to check with the manufacturer and get back to me tomorrow.

There may be a fender flare part deux in the works. I will let you know tomorrow.

Also as an added bonus, he is going to check and see if he can get someone to make clear marker lights and signal lights http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Cool huh???

Super nice guy BTW....Paisan!

the more i look at the pic im not too crazy about the lines . we have a step at the fender then the step out at the flare looks kinda funky to me . maybe not so bad if it had some beefier tires http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I must be missing something?
The H3 's got some of the biggest fender wells I've seen on a truck.

Why in the world would you want to put wider flares on it?

If its because your wheels are sticking out, you'd be better served buying more close fitting wheels...

Looks like your trying to build a stairwell on the side of your rig. In case you want to walk up onto your hood, :clapping: to each there own though. :beerchug: A wider fiberglass fender would be nice prerunner stylie, if you wanted width, but if your worried about scratching your ride, stay on the pavement. :)

Well, finally here are photos of the black wheels I bought as related to my previous inquiries on the subject. The wheels are Granite GA9s from Tire Rack. They are not perfect replacements for the stock wheels as the offset is different (the tires extended 2" past the fenders upon installation). Tire Rack was unaware of this and did offer to accept a return on of the wheels as the setup technically was not legal by PA DOT inspection standards. However, I bought the E&G Classics Flare kit and voila - the wheels stayed.

As for the flare kit - well, I like the product for the most part but the service from E&G Classics has been shaky. The first kit showed up through DHL as an open box (it looked like the end flap had never been there upon shipping) and sure enough, there was a missing fender flare piece. After contacting the retailer in California (despite the fact that E&G sits in Maryland - the next state south from me) and having to threaten a formal consumer action after E&G Classics initially refused to send the part upon dealer request - they did. It arrived and I installed accordingly. It was only after installation that I noticed one of the fender flares has a discoloration in it - like it was stressed during molding (I used to work with plastics - I know the signs of improper molding stresses). I am now awaiting a response from E&G Classics after having sent photos of the problem to them via email this past Monday. I guess their response will dictate my ultimate evaluation of their service and product... At the least, demand shipping insurance confirmation and inspect the parcel before accepting shipments from the companies involved. In the close-up photos of the stress mark, the ebony spot on the stress mark in the flare is where I attempted a concealment with colored wax.

I forgot to originally mention that the mud flaps also are part of the kit and are molded to streamline into the fender flares.

$122 each for the wheels (and yes - the spare matches). $427 for a somewhat troubled fender flare kit. Having the baddest looking H3 in town during a fuel crisis to boot - Priceless! :notallthere:

Well, after three weeks without a response, I guess I have to admit that E&G failed to come through on the part defect. They wanted me to return the product "for inspection". Yeah, like I want to drive around with a partial fender flare kit. The retailer tried to pursue the matter for me but I have yet to hear a response.

Forget it - stay away from E&G Classics. Hope for another company to step up to the plate.
