Oh great this evening was on way home and the little orange engine/tranny light came on. Hmmm called Onstar...they said it was something with the transmission (gee, go figure?) and said I had 7 days to get it to the dealership. Well the thing was running fine all the way home so I parked it and then ran another errand, and when I tried to pull out into traffic, I could barely get the damn thing to get into first gear.

It's almost like it's skipping first and going straight into second. Feels like the entire rig is sluggish.

Okay...anyone else experience this? Could it be the tranny filter clogged?

waaaaaaaaaaah....it's a long time until the service dept opens tomorrow morning and it's a 1 hour drive that I don't think the H2 can handle.

Should I take it to the local GM dealer first?

If it is not running properly call On Star tonight and have it towed to the Hummer dealership. They will give you a car to drive.

HummerGirl,

That just happened to me a week ago. The check engine light came on, it lost overdrive and it was stuck in third at any speed. I called Onstar and they said to take it to the dealer within seven days. I Towed it to the dealer and they fixed it within the hour. They had to replace the electronic key assembly; it’s the mod behind the key in the steering column. It stopped sending 12v to the transmission computer. It was a quick fix, It happens! BIG-C

it was the check engine light that came on...yep and you are soo right...there could be a 100 reasons why it's on. Am I correct that it's a sensor for fuel, emmissions, and whatnot?

The truck is on it's way to pick it up! I guess I cannot complain, had the H2 for over a year with zero problems. Maybe it's nothing really bad.

Oh circuit guy that sounds exactly like what's happening!!! Hope it's that.
Will keep you guys posted...

thanks for all your input...it's greatly appreciated. Now I get to listen to my husband go on and on about how his (POS) Ford Explorer Sport trac has had NO probs in the 3 years of ownership. This should make for an enjoyable day. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif All I heard last night was "My 30K Ford is running just fine, but oh wait! Your 50K HUMMAH ain't!!!"....

Could run over the Ford when H2 fixed.

I had exactly the same thing happen to my H2. I had just picked it up and was heading to Pensacola for vacation. I had driven about 200 miles, stopped to fill up, and when I went to leave it would barely move. To make a very long story short, they had to replace the valve body in the tranny. I have 5500 miles on it now and haven't had any more problems.

Got the vehicle the next day. Took only an hour to fix.

well it was the ignition control module which is tied in with the xmission controls...I think that is what they said..

anyway was stuck in 3rd gear...the reason for the decreased power on start up. Also the key was really hard to get outta the ignition switch.

Things are running great, but boy what a hassle as the local GM folks didn't even want to give me the time of day to look at it. I guess I shouldn't be suprised as they aren't obligated seeing they aren't a Hummer dealership.

It was terrible having to drive something else that's wasn't as nice as the Hummer. Boy are we EVER spoiled!

Hi Amy, nice to see another girl on this forum. I don't mean to take your screen name. I guess the spelling is different enough that it will be easy to tell us apart. How do you deal with all of these guys here? They seem kind of creepy, but funny at the same time. That dirty fun character seems really scary though. EDspecially with his little clown thing.

Hiya HummerGrrl...

there are a few girlies that still check in here to equal out the hormones!!!

These guys are great and they are always handy to help out the girls when we have a gazillion questions.

Just give SteveR food and a trail and he is happy. DrtyFn...is a hoot. He pops in like a Jack in the box with the funniest stuff. Mac is a great guy! And let's see...Jason is awesome for having this forum....and the rest of the crew is a hoot too. So many names that I should mention but cannot recall at the moment!!

HAHAH!! There's KelleyMac too, but I don't knwo where she has gotten off too????

Well I am off to pack up orders!
Take care,
~amy
