Folowwing on the new model thread. There will be 3 new models (or variants of the H3 in the coming year)
- Right Hand Drive H3 for the UK markets (an other right hand drive markets. These will be powered by Diesel engines. Yes a Diesel H3.
- Left Hand Drive Diesel H3s. both will be coming out by end 2006.
- AS FOR 2007 H3. I cannot publically reveal the information yet, but what I can say is it will have a modified engine with more Horsepower. No it's not supercharged, it's a modified engine, Horsepower will be around 245 stock. To be launched end of 2006 as a 2007 model.

It has been known for sometime that a disel will be added to the H3...for sales outside the US only.
Diesels will not be sold in the US, but it is implied in the second paragraph.
As for the third para, I would not call it a "modified" engine, it will be a standard engine, derived from an existing engine, used in many applications; not just H3. Also, HP might be a bit more. I drove one three weeks ago, and it is noticeable, but I'm satisified with what I have in this one.

hehe ok so you know it too, yes it is a derived improved version, not that there's anything wrong with the existing one, I just said modified in order to "generalize" on the thing. didnt want to go into specifics.
Is there any improvement in throttle respoinse on the new engine ?

Is the H4 still a go. Last year it was still slated and based on a current Gm small suv platform. The word "uni-body" was passed around.
It would be a mule now if it is comming next year. What do you hear?

I read somewhere that the H4 was just a mock up to throw the press off the scent of the H3. I don't remember where I read it and I don't know how true it is.

I dont think it's a mock up, the subject was brought up just last week with GM. But for sure it's not scheduled for release before end 2008, which is about the same year Land Rover Freelander is scheduled for a complete remake.
The H4 is to compete with the Freelander, BMW X3, Toyota RAV4, Nissan Murano and the new Volvo XC-50.
Gm is contemplating at a platform based on the Chevy Equinox. Personally I dont favor the idea, coz the smaller the vehicle the less offroad capable it becomes due to smaller components, of course lesser weight plays a + role, but still, a unibody on a Hummer ? naaaah. that would disrupt the entire Hummer Image.
What's next ? a Hummer Quad ? still I dont want to speculate, didnt the H3 receive bad vibe before it came out? yet now it's the most talked about Hummer, in a positive way.
Maybe that's what's upsetting the H1 guys http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif the H3 stole all the limelight so far http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif . give it time guys it will even off http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

yes, improved
talked with someone today about the H4, tabled for now, but could be reborn...seriously looking at hitting the wrangler dead on. smaller, but again, it has to be a hummer that is a requirement; no matter the size.
always thought a saturn vue, with the honda engine, and dana 60 axles would make a nice off road pkg. the vue with the plastic panels would be interesting http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I dont get it they cant make this thing any smaller, the bed after the back seats are down is still a little to small for me.

My guess is still with the DOD 4.8, the Tahoe 5.3 is getting 20 MPG in its new version so I could see a 4.8 DOD getting the low 20's with an easy 250-260 hp. Length is not much different from the 3.5 I6 and there is plenty of room laterally. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

NO, all I can say that it's less than 4.0 http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
It's still an I5, but improved version with more Horsepower.

gotta stay the I5 it's just too $$$ to change now for GM. Everyone hated the H2 until they drove it in June of 2002. the H3 is feeling the same welcome but they will come around.

How bad will these new models devalue the 06 h3? I am just about to buy one but am thinking maybe a lease is better. Won't take as much of a hit if they do go down in value.

When will orders for 2007 model year start to be taken? Should I wait to place my order untell then?
You are about 7-9 months away from the first orders for a 2007 model. They started the 2006 early.

Ooh, I'd love to have a diesel in there.
Any idea if the diesel will offer better or worse 0-60 performance than the current I5?
If it's just better mileage, I'm not sure I will bite since it will probably be offset by the higher diesel fuel prices (at least out here). The engine will probably cost more too, as it does in the Jeep Liberty. But that sound might make it worth it.

Later models will no doubt have some improvements. How much are you willing to pay for those improvements? Any improvement; mechanical, ergonomical, interior, exterior - will obviously cost more. This vehicle is a truck with plenty of "giddy-up" for the street and awesome off-road performance. And, in it's current configuration, damn fine at under 30K.
Personally, the '06 is more than enough for me and will be my rig for many more adventurous miles. My 2cents. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
