Hello everyone! I just purchased a new '05 H2 and am looking for any advice on getting some new steps that would integrate into the rocker panel protection like the new '06's do. I am coming off of a Land Rover Defender that I had set up for serious off roading-the wife made me sell it after our first child hit the ground and after much deliberation we were able to agree on the H2-she likes the room and comfort and I still get to play http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif The only thing that we have been going back and forth on is the steps-it is a lux and it came with the chrome tubes. If I had my way they would've never made it out of the dealer's lot, but she said she needed something. I have seen a few guys on here with what look like rocker panel/step combos but have not been able to find them on any of the vendor's sites. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as I am getting tired of taking them off to go wheeling and then putting them back on. I will go with the individual "steps" that Hummer has that are one bolt on and off if I have to, but I would much rather get something permanent that will hold up on the trail. I am looking forward to getting this thing de-blinged and out in the wild!

DRTY-where do I get one of those sweet bumpers! I was going to get the removable unit on the rec' hitch, but after seeing that thing I've GOT to get one!

Thanks!

The OEM U-steps are really easy to remove w/out any tools - one cotter pin each and you're done! I've seen them pretty cheap on E-bay - like $250 per set?

And BTW - WELCOME!

Can you just order the steps and put them on? I looked at them and they're just bolted on. Since your truck doesn't have the cutout where they would go you would need to remove the rocker to install them. The steps would be just under the plastic trim piece, and you'll likely hit it with your shoe, but they're slick.

As for the DRTY bumper, you need atleast 2000 asskissing posts. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I've seen one guy on EBAY lately trying to sell a set of the new Limited Edition steps. I think the auction started at around $50, but no one ever bid. You might keep checking.

WOW! Thanks for the quick response and the welcome! I checked with my local dealer on the '06 limited steps and the parts guy and the sales guy gave me the run-around about needing an '06 VIN to order it, and they are "not flexible nor comfortable" using a lot-number to get the parts coming. I guess I can't blame them, but the whole time I felt like I was being fed a line of reprocessed hay (B.S.). I'll keep my eyes out on Ebay for a set of the plug-ins.

Thanks!

Go to that dealer and get a VIN while they're closed. Then order them from another parts dept. DON'T speak to anyone about it and don't drive your H2 to the shop.
