Hi-
I'm new to this forum and wanted to ask a question concerning who (Agency, etc.) uses the following type of vehicles. In this case a friend spotted these hitching a ride on one of those vehicle delivery semi's. Tihs groupng consisted of several vehicles, the first was apparently an H1 military with the gun turret on the back end. Accompanyinh that were 2 chevy Impala's and one or two Suburban style vehicles. Now each of these were a spotless white with a red stripe going accross the hood and angling down over the front door. Somewhere in this array of color were blue stars and over the door were a large, say maybe 18" or larger diameter silver badge. Each vehicle was equipped with chrome bumpers, chrome running boards and what I'm sure is the latest in aerodynamic light bars over the top of each vehicle.
My friend couldn't make out the wording on the badges and I was hoping that maybe someone here has seen these vehicles before. What group could they belong to? If the Hummer didn't have the gun turret I'd think maybe with the red, white and blue design they could be some sort of Public Awareness division of Homeland Security or something, but what else could these be- something with law enforcement? INS border patrol???
Any ideas on finding these if no one knows of them could be a big help too- thanks

Actually, it sounds like a GM Fleet Demo Police Tahoe.
GM uses a silver badge logo with red striping and blue stars.
As for the gun turret - Are you sure that the turret wasn't in the middle of the truck?

Sorry about the gun turret detail- I wasn't the one who saw it, it was in Missouri though probably on I-44 between Joplin and St.louis (my small attempt at humor there for anyone from Missouri...). I'm sure the turret (no mention from my friend of an actual gun attached) was positioned where it normally would be-
Part of the irony in Hummer Guru asking if he saw any words was that, Yes he did. He noticed the two (Cruisers I'll call them now) were Impalas by chevy. He specifically mentioned to his coworker to check out the "badge" to see who these were with. The "less than with it" coworker replied, "Impala" and then it was to late- they were too far separated and on a big time schedule. Thank you both for your insights, the GM thing sounds a "little" more plausible than the Chrome loving aliens, but then if you've recently crashed your ship and want to travel the Earth in style- THIS would certainly be one way to accomplish that http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Actually, the less than with it co worker might be right.
If you check this link out:
http://www.gmfleet.com/us/products/specialized/police/2005_Police_Brochure.pdf
The police badge logo depicted in this document actually shows a badge with "Impala" on it.
GM changes the graphics style every year, but utilizes the same logo and color scheme. The 2004 Police brochures aren't available any more, but what it's sounding like is that your friends likely saw older vehicles (like 2004) being sent back.
Police agencies test out vehicles routinely to see if they meet their specs. This might be the case since there's very little difference between 2004 and 2005 model year police vehicles that GM offers.
