With Hurricane Isabelle,
The Navy sent the Fleet out to sea.
The Army sent the Hummers out to the open roads http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

And the Marines at Camp Lejune are staying there.

Well guys, I am about 2 1/2 hours south of N.C. and there outskirt islands(not outer banks)I am on the coast and had winds about 15-17mph and had no problems here. We were told we would be getting 35mpg sustained winds but never happened and I thank God it didn't come as I went through 2 Hurricanes and they are not fun especially when your on the coast. You could feel the drag on the H2 as it is square but as far as mobility is concerned I had no problem driving.

here in Philly we are starting to get the winds and some rain, maybe within the next few hours it will kick up and I will go for a ride to see how it is and how the truck handles the weather.

I agree with everyone. My H2 is stable but the headwinds really make the mpg go down.

My H2 don't like the high bridges on gusty days especially in heavy traffic. There's one bridge in Jax I dread crossing on windy days, lots of moving around.
I was following another H2 yesterday while in a small S-10. The winds were gusty, blowing my little truck all over the place. Up ahead the H2 was tracking perfectly. But, he wasn't on the bridge. High bridges, gusty winds, traffic causes me to hang on a little tighter. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Everything seems OK here in CT as of this (Friday) AM. Somewhat windy and off & on heavy rain. The Cherokee did fine on my morning commute http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

This was not the place to be driving during Isabell. I live a block from the Ches. Bay at Lynnhaven Inlet. I can see the Atlantic, Eastern Shore, the entire Ches. Bay Brg. Tunnel, downtown VA Beach and on a clear day the city of Hampton (you need to know where to look for that one) from the Lesner Brg. over the inlet. I am fortunate that I am 10' above MLLW. Most of my neighbors are, and were not.
So the Inlet and the Bay met in my neighborhood. On this street water came up to mailboxes. The main artery, Shore Dr./RT 60 was a lake for over a mile, broken only because of the height of the bridge. We were in the streets shoveling debris out of drains to keep them flowing to the pump stations. We cleaned neighbors' yards. We drank together during the approach and helped each other afterward.
After seeing thousands of trees down I am thankful I made the right decision not to go test the H2 that night.
As an aside, one of my new neighbors' kids was coming home with his girlfriend and a buddy. The buddy was driving and while attempting to cross Shore Dr. was broadsided by another vehicle. The S-10 spun, partially ejecting the 16 yr. old girl and rolling on her. We heard the accident and ran out in time to see the truck being rolled off her by good samaritans and three off duty doctors, one a neighbor, going to here side. It did not look good. I will not be anymore graffic. My g/f, Susan, and I walked back to the house. The girl did not make it.
The kids are young, the family has a new puppy, the insurance adjuster arrived today.
