Must be so common that it's not reported on much. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I heard about it today on Fox news during one of my many naps. They say they are unrelated, 4 dead and a 19 year old wounded or something. Going on since March I think.
The wife of a guy I used to work with took 2 bullets through her minivan in San Diego about 5 years ago. Scarey Stuff! She was okay, but they never found out who did it.

Car Struck in Latest Calif. Freeway Shooting

•L.A. Fears Return of Freeway Gunplay
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — A bullet hit a motorist's car Monday in another Southern California freeway shooting, authorities said. No one was hurt but two major routes were shut down for the investigation.
The bullet pierced the windshield in an incident reported shortly after 3 p.m. on northbound Highway 14, said Officer Armando Clemente, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.
"It went through the windshield and went through a side window," he said.
Traffic was halted for more than an hour on northbound sections of Highway 14 and adjacent Interstate 5 in the Newhall Pass north of Los Angeles while CHP officers walked traffic lanes in search of evidence....
Pretty scary! I'm just about to head down to San Diego. Maybe it's better I drive faster so that it's harder to aim at me http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Do you guys still think it is good that people can obtain weapons so easily? It seem to me that some sort of restrictions would be good. Atleast to make it more difficult for the bad guys to get them.

Lately it's out of control. We're stepping up CHP coverage on all the freeways down here; so far it's not helping. They are going to attach recorders to the CalTrans cameras for post-incident review of future shootings. Speculation is that this is the latest way for gamg newbies to get jumped in by killing. Welcome to my world.

No, carte blanche restriction is not the answer to this issue, W1N... the bad guys will always be able to get them...

If it is truly thought to be initiation related, a little reverse psychology in the news from some "experts" might be worth the gamble. It is a gamble because it can step up the incidents but by attacking the very idea that is behind the shootings it might create more slip ups or eventually stop it's use as a whole.
The plan would be to promote the idea that just randomly shooting at cars on the highway carrys very little risk of getting caught and is the act of a coward. If it is gang related, the gang must be very weak by allowing entry by using such a very easy and low-risk initiation. It's not personal like a random mugging or armed robbery, which carries very inherent risks.
Shooting at cars on the highway is the easiest thing on the conscious for a criminal to do. There is no personal connection. They really never see the individual and in many cases just hit the car. It is some kind of power display (in their mind). Very weak minded cowards do stuff like this.

They haven't found a way to put a restriction on Stupidity, yet.
