Replacing a broken headlight in vehicles these days is expensive; first hand knowledge with my Volvo. What do you think about getting some sort of extra protection for the H3 headlights? My salesman said forget about it, they don't break???

Yes, that assembly would be expensive since the headlight and park light are all one assembly. Yes, it can break, but it is lexan and it is tough to break.
I won't worry until it happens.

Ask your salesman to fix for free if it does and I bet he won't honor that deal.
Are both the fog and head lights the same material lexan?

I would not lose sleep over it. If you bust one you have insurance. Plus there are many other things you can break on it that would cost more. Did you volvo have Xenon lamps? Maybe they even replaced the balast? That is where the money is right now...but Hummer does not use those stock. We we are out much less cash.
