My friend just painted his gray parts in the interior of his H2 body color. Will try to obtain pics. I'm going to contact the people that smoked my tail lights. When I was there, I saw that they were painting dash peices on another vehicle, I think it was a ford truck. Let you guys know what I find.

I think that painting the dash looks great. How is durability though?
Any additional pics would be great.

I found out to paint the dash parts and console only will be 450.00. The place told me that it gets kind of difficult because of the existing coating, but it still comes out perfect. The black dash looks good, but don't you think it has alot of orange peel?

Hey Mac. Will upload pix of my green dash tomorrow. In the meantime, can you get me any info on the DVD/Nav(?) & hi-fi upgrades on the red unit? Impressions, etc. very helpful.
Thanks in advance!

Randall, You have to check with www.westcoastcustoms.com, (http://www.westcoastcustoms.com,) a LA custom shop, I am sure your local shop can do the same setup. I contacted many outfits and collected lots of data last year when I was planning to modify my Hummer, but later I decided I like my Hummer just the way it is without modification. Most of the photos I collected were deleted.
We stayed at the Manger(sp?) in San Antonio, we had a room with a huge deck right next to the Alamo. It is a beautiful town with a colorful river and excellent small airport.
The Menger was where Teddy Roosevelt’s Rough Riders met. Judged by the plaques on the wall, that is where many Presidents have stayed. We have an A+ impression of San Antonio, especially the people are so nice. We were there 2 years ago, in the midst of economic downturn, San Antonio shops and streets and river were full of people having fun. Wasn’t there some rock star peed on the Alamo? I love Texas.

That red painted dash is none other than Shaquille O'neils H2. West Coast Customs is also his shop.
If I recall, Cubby (Mr and Mrs) have painted dash components. I can't recall where they had it done (thier own shop, I believe), but we could ask them on the durability issue...

OK, here's a low-res shot of my Green painted dash. Sorry it's not the best shot in the world, but my photo skills are lacking and the reduction lost a lot of detail. Wasn't sure I would like it, but the green is pretty subtle, so I may do it in my SUT (IF if ever gets here - LOL)

Question & Comment
My question is how easy or difficult is it to remove these sections for painting?
My comment is I guess in the worst case scenario of the paint not holding up or being damaged one could just order brand new dash pieces. I wonder what theur price & partnumbers are?

Batson34,
I really can't tell you how easy or hard they are to remove/replace. My dealership did mine and I qizzed them as to removing/replacing all the pieces. They said it wasn't that complicated and were comfortable with doing it.
I did see one with all of the dash pieces out, and it was a scary sight, so I don't know if I'd recommend it as a DIY job.
I do know that when I got it back the grab bar was loose and the body shop guy just shoved it into place w/ a loud snap. Saying that it just snaps in.
I'm prepared to go back to original, If it starts scratching off or looking ratty, but I have not checked into part #'s or prices. If anyone has I'd love some info.
Sorry I'm of no more help.

I found this H2 on ebay and in the description it says custom style bmw dash. Here is a link and it has the same weird type dash. I assume there is a company making these somewhere. Just wanted to show you to let you know these type dashs exist somewhere.

The heater controls were moved inside the arm rest compartment. The dash peices are custom reconfigured for any design. I know this because west coast customs are my neighbors.
