Man charged in threats on family

A 59-year-old Fort Wayne man was arrested on Interstate 65 north of Henryville on Thursday afternoon for allegedly threatening his wife and other family members over the phone.

Indiana State Police troopers stopped a 2004 Hummer driven by Gary Ritter Sr., who reportedly had threatened the lives of his wife, Mary Ritter, 58; son, Gary Ritter Jr., 37; and son-in-law Paul Gorges, 45. When searching the vehicle, troopers found six handguns, three rifles, a shotgun and a ski mask.

Fort Wayne Police had begun an investigation Wednesday after getting reports that Ritter Sr. had made the threats in a phone call from Fort Myers, Fla. Ritter Sr. was taken to the Clark County Jail where he is being held on a $50,000 bond on a charge of intimidation with the threat of using a weapon.
