So i went to paragon on saturday with Ramp Hummer...won the dirtiest truck award had a great time...then at the end of the day i had a battery light on..figure the terminals got wet and muddy so i let it run and dry off...big mistake...i've come to the conclusion the alternator is shot from all the mud and water. Truck starts...but wont stay running and i keep getting low battery then all the warning lights turn on..then the gauges die...then the truck dies. Anyone ever get this?

I'd check your battery cables before replacing anything. Sounds like you may be running off the battery, draining it, then recovering after sitting for a while.
Check your grounding cable too for any kind of play in it.

Alternator would still be running, but wouldn't be charging the battery.
Got a meter to test the battery, and output of the alt.?
Or you could just call onstar, and have them pick it up!:)

Congrats on the Dirtiest truck award!!! Have you used that BBQ yet?!
That mud was KILLER...I actually overheated on the way home--after I went thru that lake there was a ton of mud caught in the radiator...
Keep us updated...curious to see what happens with your alternator/electrical system. Good luck! hope it is taken care of fast.

Haha no i haven't had a chance to use the BBQ thanks to this beautiful weather.Well i tried roadside assistance but they would only bring me to the nearest hummer dealership and i wasn't sitting in PA for the weekend. So i called them today and they brought it out to Ramp. We'll see what happens from there.

I agree, with special attention to the grounds. Also, make sure your fuse block cover was not off when spashing around.
Also, check to see if there was any water intrusion on the lower right passenger side by the BCM.

it was the alternator. It got fried with all the mud and water. Yeah that was fun and those ramp people are definitely good people. They said their next one is gonna be in september area. im definitely going back..i mean come on i got a free BBQ and a free wash haha

Interesting. Was it totally packed with mud or was it the water (I hope not).
I once had an alternator fry on my Sea Ray back in the 80s due to salt water intrusion into the bilge area. But salt conducts, so salt water is really nasty.
Glad to hear it is fixed.
