RICHMOND, Va. - Steve Carell sprained his ankle while shooting a scene for ?Evan Almighty,? the sequel to 2003?s ?Bruce Almighty,? Universal Pictures said Monday.
Carell hurt his ankle Saturday while stepping out of a Hummer in downtown Richmond, spokesperson Carol McConnaughey told The Associated Press.
The 42-year-old actor, who stars in NBC?s ?The Office,? was ?doing fine,? McConnaughey said. Carell was expected to be in New York City on Monday to publicize his TV show.
In ?Evan Almighty,? Carell?s character is directed by God (Morgan Freeman) to build an ark. The movie, expected to be released next year, also stars Lauren Graham, John Goodman and Wanda Sykes.
Filming, which wasn?t delayed by Carell?s injury, was expected to continue Tuesday.
