aloha everyone,
just wondering if it's okay to use premium unleaded gas on the H2. i know it's expensive here in kauai. it is now $3.78 a gallon. i only use premium unleaded gas on my toyota's..please let me know...mahalos!!!
Sure it's okay, but I don't see a reason too.....just costs like 50 cents or so more a gallon and raises my oil stocks value.:D ;)

My FZJ80 requires a high octane gas, but the Hummers do not. It is in yourOwners manual. 87 oct. is fine:D

I run the 87 Oct in mine and it runs great, why pay more for the premium.

Never used anything but premium since day one. Unless making long trips like Moab. I notice a jerky response when I use anthing less.
One member on his last business trip here complained that even though both our rigs are stock mine ran noticably quieter and smoother when driving. This I could tell made him quite angry.
It was very pleasing to see.:D

I'm the same way.. Always run premium... One of my business partners actually had the truck while I was out of town for a week.. and he filled it up with regular.. when I got back... The truck drove different enough to where I noticed it... Filled her back up with premium and it was back to normal... Might just be me.. But I'm sticking with the premium... Also, since I have a gas station.. The premium at cost price for me is only like a 6-8 cent difference...

The higher octane in premium fuel only raises the fuels resistance to burn which is why higher compression engines require higher octane. The higher octane value will decrease the chances of preignition(detonation) adds no advantages to A lower compression engine

All I know is interior noise and throttle response among other things are very noticable.
Nothing I would want more than to lower my gas bill. Because of these differences I still use the 94.:( :o

But, it helps my stock portfolio; especially if you are using Exxon/Mobil or Shell:D

I noticed a huge difference in low end throttle response and a bit less of a difference through the entire throttle range.
Like mentioned above.. the truck just runs smoother and feels more responsive.
I put my first tank of premium in it a week ago.... I was quite surprised.
Yep.. I know this is a 4 year old thread....:notallthere:

Maybe it's all in my head...but think the truck runs better on 93.

The Hummer tech in Utah said the same thing. I run 85 octane and my H2 runs great. He also said 85 octane is recommended in the higher elevations. :beerchug:

My 09 H2 manual recommends that premium be used. The engine on the H2 was changed in 08.

I notice quite the difference using premium in the 2008, noticed nothing when I ran it in the 2006

Good to know. I have not tried regular in it.

The 6.2L has a compression ratio of 10.5:1 vs the 6.0L which has a 9.4:1 ratio so I can understand why the newer trucks recommend premium fuel.
I am happy:clapping: I can run on regular because it is $.30 more per gallon for premium now! That would be almost $10 more per fillup.
