I'm still new so I hope this isn't a stupid question, but on the different racks how easy is it to remove it and then put it back on? I can see where the rack would come in really handy on trips but not sure that I would want it on all of the time. Also, do you have to have the crossbows in order to install a rack?

This link on the forum is about a previous discussion on roof racks.

Some racks use the cross bows, other racks don't.
I'm going to leave my rack on spring - fall, then take it off so I can put the H3 in the garage for the minus 20 and below winters.

I've looked through most of the posts regarding racks but I'm still wondering if anyone has found a good rack that doesn't require the crossbows (since I don't have them) or am I gonna have to breakdown and buy the crossbows and then the rack as well? I'd also want one that is easy to put on/take off since I probably wouldn't want it on for everyday driving.

Racks that don't attach to the crossbows (like the Gobi or Garvin) are going to be a PITA to take on/off. If you want that capability, get something like a Yakima or Thule. You can even use their crossbows if you wanted. Probably save a few bucks there compared to the GM ones.
