View Full Version : Are you going to buy another H2?

I can't really answer my own question, as my H2 only has 3500 miles. But i will say that i enjoy it now more than the day i bought it & have zero buyers regret. There's no vehicle anywhere near its price that i've ever enjoyed as much.
Anyway,
-would you buy another H2?
-would you buy an H2 "alpha" or second-gen H2 if notable changes/updates were incorporated?

If my H2 got wrecked, I'd buy another one with the insurance money in a heartbeat. I've had it 1 year and it has been perfect.
I doubt I'd sell the one I have for an "improved" model. My 2005 H2 does everything I need, on road and off, and I doubt the improvement in a newer model would provide additional benefits sufficient to justify the cost.

Absolutely. I'd love to have a second one now - one for off-roading, one for bling. Until someone comes out with a cooler truck, I will keep buying H2s.

Would I buy another? In a heartbeat. Absolutely the most loved vehicle I have ever owned. Since I got this one 2 1/2 years ago, my '91 Vette and '66 427 Cobra sit undriven over this time span!
Never had an interest in off-roading. Probably have 40+ days out now. No longer pristine. Damn trees keep throwing themselves at me. And those boulders keep popping up out of the ground.
What was the question?

Yup. I too have some nice "toys" in my garage and there's not doubt I'd do it again. This fourm proves that there are a lot of loyal Hummer owner and who knows maybe that can help the H1, H2 and H3 assembly lines continue for another decade or more. Power to the people! Ahh, I mean Hummer! Or should it be long live the king?

I am in the same boat as most. I dont want to trade in my truck which is perfect :D until they come out with some changes that are "must have". I almost hope the Duramax takes awhile as that will be my downfall.

That is, unless I break down and get the 2006 H1 Alpha.

I sold my blown C5 because after I bought the H2, I quite driving it. I loved that car but love the H2 more.
Would definitely buy another. Got almost 70K miles on it now and it's been the most maintenance free vehicle I've owned.

how i wish all i have in my garage are 2 H2 SUV and 1 H2 SUT...i only have 1 H2 SUV for now...when my friends hit the lottery..i might get me another 1!!!...my dream came true when i bought my 2006 H2 after i came back from iraq..
I've only had mine for a year, though I too would buy another one. In fact, in two or so years, my white H2 will become my wifes permo vehicle (will sell the mini van), and I want another Hummer. Not sure yet, though I am considering a H1, or the H2 6.2L dsl.

Still can't think of another vehicle I would rather be driving than my H2. Not the H2, my H2.

i think the options and possibilities for making "our own" H2 is a real plus. You drive a 5 series or an SL, but you drive your hummer.

I love my H2 and have driven it daily from the time of purchase! It is one of the first 500 off the assembly line. I have never had a mechanical problem with it, and drive it off road alot more than most! I never plan on selling it nor trading it in on a newer model. If and when Hummer produces a diesel H2, I will be one of the first in line to add it to my family! I also have the H3 which my wife drives daily and she loves hers more and more every day that she drives it. The service I recieve from my dealer is top notch and that in itself speaks volumes!
Although my husband dislikes MY truck -- and has offered countless times to replace it with just about anything else -- I can't see myself in anything else. I did replace my '03 with the '05 model and have really enjoyed the "upgrade". Only problem is the nearly constant rattling from the passenger door panel...

As part of modding my H2, i'm going to try preventative medicine on the rattle potential that does exist due to alot of the interior surfaces being hard plastic - i'm having the entire thing taken apart and re-assembled with resilient gasket between all potentiall rubbing pieces.
You might try something like having the door taken apart, then inspect what you have and see if you can identify the source of the rattle (maybe a broken piece of plastic that rubs itself over bumps) & glue it / caulk it / put a small piece of gasket material between it. Or use Dynamat on that door, etc.
My truck is still new, and most of the rattles i've noticed are due to change or something like a phone / kids toy / whatever sitting in one of the storage trays... So i was thinking about having them coating with felt or some type of rubbery material as well.
That might have been a crappy explanation, but if you can find whats buzzing and put something soft/squishy between the two surfaces, you'll be good to go.

Why would I need another one? I'm keeping this one for the long haul.

Therein lies the hesitation I would have with buying another H2. I really think I'd have hard time laying down another $50k+ for a vehicle that rattles and creaks as much as my current SUT does. Then again, that is a HUGE pet peeve of mine, and I think I might be in the minority in that sense.

Have never had a rattle problem with the trk itself, but have found the few rattles I have had, had something to do with things not put in their proper places! ie, toyes from my son, drink bottles ect.... But then again, I have not had many of the issues that have been posted here!

I'm not surprised by this comment, as my wife continually tells me that she doesn't hear the rattles that I hear. :)

The H2 has pros and cons for noise.
It has horrid aerodynamics, off-roading tires from the factory (though not as off-roading as some of the tires people swap to), a big V8, and the harder interior's functional benefits are offset by the potential for squeaks if the parts slide against one another.
But it has alot of sonic virtues as well. The same tires with the aggressive tread have alot of rubber between road and rim, and that helps give the H2 basically total immunity to the high pitched road/tire shriek that plagues alot of cars, including alot of cars that cost as much or more than the H2.
Its extremely well sealed and has basically no high frequency wind/whistle noise, just rumble from all the turbulence outside. The doors are thick and have acoustic insulation, the engine noise is very well insulated considering what the engine is, and the suspension has two-stage shock absorbers and basically never breaks down into that hellish thud-thud-thud that hapepns with so many cars, including very expensive cars.
I know alot of you guys/gals live in texas or southern cali or arizona where the highways are very smooth... but try taking a series of vehicles down highway 10 in western Minnesota, near the ND border, and see what you think. you'll never want to drive another big-rimmed german car again (if noise levels mean anything to you)
Ultimately, the noise isolation of the H2 was one of the selling points for me. Its far quieter on the roads i travel than many of the cars i auditioned at or above its price range before buying the H2.

LoLo... its probably the black outside A pillar thats rubbing against the windsheild the same that mine did. Just take it off, and put some foam tape between it and the windshield.
I'd definately buy another. Most fun vehicle I have ever owned.

Yes, I plan on buying another H2 down the road. After owning and enjoying both an '06 H3 and an '03 H2 SUV, the next Hummer on my list is a new H2 SUT.
