Does the nav unit only play one cd. Also does it require a nav-dvd and do you have to take it out to listen to a audio cd. Thanks for the input.

Thanks much for the pictures. Very good. I like the look of the integrated Nav system with radio/CD controls. Good question about the number of CD's. Hopefully this is still has the multi-CD capability.

Where was the radio antenna relocated to, and do you have a pic of the rear center armrest/cupholder.

Cool! Thanks for the pics! I think I like the old wheel center better, but the NAV looks great and the whip antenna is much better than I was expecting. For some reason I pictured some 3 foot silver thing with a spring base planted on the fender. Must have got that idea from the SUT concept. http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Thanks again!

Love the NAV and the Wheel!
It's hard to tell from the pictures but the interior color change? And is there any more chrome added? If so can you show us some pics!

I want to know more about the outside of the H2. Does yours have the chrome trim ring on the gas tank or chrome fuel cap? They said they had also did you get chrome front or platinum chrome?

Thanks

I notice that the light switch grouping looks different - On the 2003 there is a space below the light switch (I have used that space to put some extra switches). I think I am looking at this correctly - does anybody agree?

Can the 2004 nav system be put into a 2003?

I stand corrected - there is another switch to the left of the light grouping (has the rear wiper control) - this has the space below (where I put my extra switch for off road lights)

Sorry http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

The navagation can only be used with the DVD inside the unit. If you put a audio cd in the player the Nav does not function. From what I have experenced. The positive is the Clean look to the Factory unit. The Nav is really detailed better than the one in my 740 BMW. One feature is the split screen, half can be zoomed in and the other zoomed out. It has 3D capility which is an angled view more like driving down down a route as apposed to a overhead view. It has both. The DVD is updated and had an address in a pretty new neighborhood today when i used it to find my way aroung the concrete jungle and twisted freeways called Los Angeles California. Half of the screen was the map and the other half is the route directions. It shows the off ramp and next turn. Or the highway or street name. The girl's voice is pleasent. When you play the radio you get a pretty cool LCD screen with the Station information song and artest.

A couple things i don't like. Can't play a CD with the Nav on, Doesn't have a CD changer and no XM. If they would have had an option for CD changer intergrated into the system i would have given it a 10 but i must give it 7+.

My plan is to put an aftermarket DVD XM radio into the onstar hole. All bose speakers will be used in the new system. wire a couple hidded speakers under the dash so i can still hear the Nav and onstar. I think this will still look better than a single unit such as a Alpine DVD Nav up in the old radio hole.

I haven't really looked it up but i think a aftermarket DVD NAV XM unit installed is about $ 4,000 the way im going is about the same but you get more functions and better sound from the aftermarket unit. from what i have heard it is hard to wire amps into to the factory unit plus it isn't the cleanest sound.

nothing against other ways to do it, but this is my plan. I'll keep you posted. The radio wont go in for a couple months.

Are you able to listen to the radio and have the nav work at the same time? Thanks for the input.

I stopped down at the dealer today, I didn't talk with anyone since I was in a hurry but I did snap this photo of the Window sticker. It says 6 Disc changer and I was psyched but after reading your post I guess they just never removed the wording from last year http://www.elcova.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Okay, here's my list of pic requests:

Navigation working, 3D map, etc.

No Nav, radio station displaying.

The antenna on the fender/air intake.
[/list]

And my only other question is - can you listen to the radio while the NAV is running?

Thanks very much!!!!!!

And what about up-dating the downloadableH2 Owners Manual (http://www.elcova.com/h2/2k03hummer1.pdf) to the 2004 edition? Possible, Jason?

JCJ,

It is absolutely possible, need to find an online version to link to. Once I have found it, it will be taken care of.

Thanks for the idea, will begin my search now ...

NJ,
Re-read the window sticker. It lists the 6 disc in the Lux package, but down below where it list the Nav system it says that it "REPLACES STD/OPT PKG RADIO".

Dan,
You are able to listent to the radio while using the navigation. The only thing you cannot listen to is CD. Now that I have your list I will work on posting them when I get home from work tonight. Sorry it has taken some time to respond. Out enjoying the new H2 too much.

We Avalanchers are installing the UM8 nav unit ourselfs. We also have added the indash six disk changers so we can play cds and use the nav at the same time. As to date we have 5 installwd with the nav unit and working. The H2s have it easy since all you have to do is ad the UM8 and ant in the dash. We have to add the amp and mic and then get the amp programed. But it works and sounds better than it did with the ****ty Bose amp the Avalanches come with.

I'm not sure yet. All I know is I'll pretty much immediately be removing it for a custom screen and separate DVD/CD player.

I wouldn't have ordered it with the truck knowing I was going to take it out but my dealer preordered the first SUT and it just so happened to have everything I wanted except for the NAV which I didn't. So instead of waiting an extra few weeks for the next one I took it.

I found one on eBay and they said that it was not locked. What do they mean by locked? Are they vehicle specific?

I have a Magellan portable GPS. I want an in-dash. Saw the Pioneer, but the screen flips up and I think it will interfere with the vents on the dash. Are there good alternatives to the H2 Stock NAV system?
