Took my 3 in this morning to D&D Hummer (Davenport Ia. ) to get my new roof rails installed. Very painless. I was in and out in 40 minutes. Man they have great service there.:) The service rep said there getting alot of the new rails now, so the Hummer3 nation should be good to go. The new rails fit like a glove. He said they also taped down inside the front pillar rails because buyers were complaining about wind noise there. Humm,, tape,, wonder how long that will last ? The new rails are very solid now, so life is good here in Rivertown for me. On vacation this week,,:D Time to go play ! See ya,,,

Was just at the dealership requesting this be fixed. Of course they didn't know bubkis. I told them that if I could get the part #'s I'd email them. Dealers seem to be way behind the powercurve.

Oh, BTW...

XBazillion on wanting the part numbers! Post em up please! :D

I must be new to this talk. Are their problems with the platic roof rails or is this a luggage rail deal?

It is the plastic roof rails that are the issue. The original design was cracking where they meet with the A-pillar. The new parts were supposed to be out in May. I know a lot of people have had issues with the cracking but mine have not.

I already did and they told me they couldn't find them  they will have my truck for at least two more weeks (will replace rear differential) so I guess I could find the part # here and prove them wrong :o

When I get to about 68-70 mph on the freeway, I hear a noise (like a crackling sound) coming from the left A pillar area. It almost sounds like the windshield is going to crack. The dealer said it's wind going through the left air intake vent when the wind hits at a certain angle. (huh?) Would this be the same sound as a cracked roof rail? What type of sound is that? Maybe that's the problem I have.

You can see the broken or cracked roof rail if your's has it, by looking inbetween the front pillar rail and the roof rail where they connect to each other.( straight up from mirror) The broke part will be where they join. My dealer taped my front pillars from the inside because he was getting complants of wind noise in that area from other H3 'ers. I really never noticed the noise , but he said it would fix it. Hope this helps.. See ya
