Ok, I need help with a list of responses for the FJ. One of our regulars for poker night just bought an FJ and has yet to see my H3 (sure he doesn't even know I have it). He is a real ball buster and I know he is going to be giving me a hard time about the FJ vs H3. I will definitely be calling his the KY cruiser but would love to hear any other responses you might suggest.

"wow, your vehicle is as gay as mine"
"wow, we both must have a small penis"
"wow, think that jeep over there could pull us out?"

I guess if we're talking about Jeeps, we are talking (extremely) Modified Jeeps!! right? ;)

I guess I should probably mention that most anything regarding specs and off road capability will probably be a waste on him. I don't think it will ever see a dirt road let alone anything challenging.

Just make sure you are parked next to him so he can see how ugly his is. Oooh, better yet- park in front of him and go on a beer run mid-play.;):D
Then talk about all the fruity colors his comes in and invite him to take his lifted Mini to Tellico with us next time.

I'm Ready anytime you are Newbs!
Here are some comparisons I gathered:
The FJ rides much better onroad than the H3. The frame on the FJ is much stiffer. Yet, in a pure offroad environment, the H3 starts shining. Contrary to what the Detroit News says, the H3 has a much tighter turning diameter, 37 feet, vs. 41.8 for the FJ. It also has a 4.03:1 low range vs. the FJ's 2.566:1. That along with the 33" optional tires, it is better for extreme rock crawling. Overall, though, the FJ will do just about everything the H3 will. It all depends on the driver.
The H3 five cylinder engine has more vibration than the FJ V6, especially between 1500 and 2000 rpm. The FJ also has more power, although that changes in 2007, when the H3 gets bumped to 242 horsepower, surpassing the FJ's 239. That really doesn't help your case but we'll throw it in.
The H3 is 400 pounds heavier, so acceleration will still fall behind for the H3 but helps a little off-road. Mileage is about the same for both, but the H3 uses regular, rather than premium for the FJ. The FJ also has a 6 speed manual vs. the H3's 5 speed.
The interiors are as different as night and day. The FJ is best described as rugged utilitarian, which is quite functional but not comfy, while the H3 is more car like and plusher inside. No leather in the FJ. The radio is a lot better in the H3, too if your down like that.;)

well, some points that seem relevant are
A) the H3 is slwoer than the FJ on-road. to me this isn't an issue because, well, if i'd wanted to go fast i wouldn't have bought a hummer (h2), i'd have bought a porsche
B) the H3 rides better/quieter than the FJ, and i don't give a rats rump what a mag has to say about it.
C) the interior of the H3 is, by a huge margin, nicer than the FJ. especially if you're sporting leather. Go compare the feel and smell of the H3s leather interior to that in a $50k Audi A6. or a $50k BMW 5-series. Oh, wait, that ISN'T LEATHER in those cars, its pleather. :D
D) the H3s rear seats seem better, at least in my limited experience. neither ones are rolls royce for back seat accomodations. in the H3 rear passengers get their own door.
E) offroad this is a trumping on paper
E1) the H3 has superior ground clearance. i measure 9.5 minimum (better than the hummer spec) with the factory offroad tires -vs- much less with the FJ (go measure it yourself)
E2) The H3 has computer-controlled traction control (akin to the Atrac) + locking center and rear differentials. The FJ has atrac + locking rear only, and those are optional.
E3) The H3s underbody arrangement and protection are far superior to that on the FJ.
F) visibility is worse in the FJ
G) the FJ looks like something my son made with legos. only it doesn't have a cool lego-dude to sort of balance it out.
H) initial test drives show mileage in the FJ well below the EPA suggestions, so its probably no better than the H3, perhaps less, who knows. but, then, i get almost 15 with my H2, so maybe vehicles just vary alot.

The look on his face when I said it was just classic and the fact that everyone else just kept it going we great! :D
Of course he knows it was all in good fun and I know he will be getting me back as some point. I do have to give the guy credit though, he knows what he likes and doesn't have to put on a show. On a slow month he makes mid six figures and on a normal month makes low 7 figures and his DD is a Toyota. Not that he doesn't have hundreds of thousands worth of cars in his garage, but I have to give him props for his DD even if I don't like the FJ.

FJ cruiser is just too ugly for me. Toyota's are fine vehicles (I replaced a Highlander with the H3), but the FJ is not one of my favorites.
