I've seen the posts on 12 volts horns. I need the dealer to install, though. Any suggestions? I don't want to blast anyone off the road .. I just want something deeper sounding than the stock one that came with the H3. Thanks!

I'm thinking of swapping out. Once, I went to the junk yard. Got a Caddy horn for my Acura. Not, sure i've thinking about the badboy.

You should go for the 159db triple train horn on ebay for only $129! Let the ford explorers know that the light is GREEN!!!! :D

I was thinking also of a better horn that could be plug and play to replace the crappy H3 horn. Anybody tried one on their H3 successfully?

 What's the H2 horn like? Is that any better? I've never paid attention. I wonder if they could put an H2 in if it's a deeper sound. I called the parts dept. at the dealer today .. he didn't know anything about any other horns. What? Hoping my H3 is ready today .. still being looked at for the problem last week. I'll try to hear an H2 when I'm there. Does anyone know if their horn is deeper?

Try this one. Very easy to install, I just don't know how much room you have under the hood.

This is the one that I just got...

The problem is... The horns are HUGE! The compressor mount won't be a problem... I think I can find a good place... But finding a place for the horns and the 2.5 gallon air tank is going to be a problem. I've heard a sound clip and it sounds great.

www.hornblasters.com has great footage of people being blasted by these horns... They are VERY loud. The drivers here and MD are supreme *******s! They need a little reminder to stay out of my lane!

Hmm...that looks much easier to fit than the train horn I was looking at. Do you know the db? or about how loud it is?

I put the volume up high on the pc and I was almost blown out of my chair! Love it! Going to check out that H2 airhorn sound. Thanks!

Right behind the grille is where I put a couple twin horns that were about 15inches long..those look wide, though. And the tank we put on the frame rail under the rear passenger seat and just ran hose. Compressor was in front of the air box..

:) StarsnBars .. Thanks! The sound is not too bad, either. A good alternative. I'm going to consider this one.

How loud is an H2 horn? Acceptable? The H3 horn sure is weak sounding.

Here's what i got just because i wanted something louder. Direct stock replacement. Comes with 2 horns, I just use 1 of them. Much louder and normal sounding (not hollow and weak). If you need, I can record a clip and attach the sound (neighbors might not be too happy). Here's a link for you to see them:

BradO, if it's not too much trouble, can you attach a sound clip? I've searched online and couldn't find anyone offering a clip to hear, like some of the other brands. THANKS!:D

Record clip, do now! Can you show us what it sounds like at 3am and also get video of your neighbors yelling?

If you're talking about the PIAA, I'd say yes.

The horn is behind the grill so you'll probably need to remove the grill, and the brushguard if you have one. Just a bunch of bolts and clips.

I heard a great horn on a huge diesel dump truck this afternoon. Thought I might ask the guy about it, but then thought I better not... looked like Grizzly Adams granddaddy.

Here's the PIAA. Just one 400mhz hooked up. You also get a 500mhz with it.

Finally took care of the wimpy horn. Bothered me a bit, but really hit home when the wife drove the H3 last week and honked at someone who cut her off. She came home complaining about the horn (and she drives a minivan).

Here's the solution. Somewhat easier to mount than the air horns, and cheaper than the PIAA. Got it for $15.99 at Harbor Freight, I've seen the same at Pep Boys for about $25.

Not a whole lot louder than the stock horn, but dual note makes it sound richer. None of the "buzz" that the stock horn has.

Harbor Freight is great :D thats were I bought my air horns they are very east to install,I didnt even have to take the grill off.

Some times I hit the air horn than the regular horn so the a s s holes think they are getting honked at from me and another car (the stock horn sounds like a car :( )
