my base package H3? I was thinking of two route. One with the driver side wheels in the water and the passenger side wheels negociating the pillars (?). The space between the pillars are 2/3 the tire length. The other route is to go on the side of the dam. The levogauge was reading 30 degrees with the H3 stradding it. It may be 35-40 degrees. There's a "water fall" in the middle.

I would think you would be more off camber with one side down in the water. Keep in mind though, if you drive across on the damn, it is probably very slick where the water spills over. You get to that point and may just slide down.

Did that kind of thing in an H1 and it still slid on the water. He is right you hit the water you are going to slide inot the pilar.

Definitely not. If it was dry the slope would be ok, but wet algae is too slick to drive on like that.

WOAH! Keep in mind the Hummer is rated at 40 % side slope, NOT degrees. (actually about 21 degrees) -- would it make it? Most likely, but is it really worth the risk? I'd be worried about the other route too -- seems like your right tires may sink down farther if they have a gap and all that weight pushing down. How deep is that water? From just looking at the pictures, I would not recommend it. Upon closer inspection you may feel otherwise -- but proceed with caution!

Ok. Thanks for the advice. I guess I thought that the H3 was rated for 40 degrees. Is it just 21 degrees = 40% then? Darn. The water there is pretty shallow (2--4 inches) but the width of that trough is actually not wide enough for the H3. Glad I asked because in real life it looks quite inviting. It is there for ATV's to cross. The area was built for ATV's really. No, I do not really want to destroy my vehicle, just take it to the limit is all.

Atleast he's asking first. I forsee a slide and maybe a roll. Don't do it. Not worth it.

I agree. Slide down that algal nastiness, hit those blocks at the bottom, and over she goes, especially given that angle. Good idea to ask though. I think it takes more guts to ask, or walk the trail, than to just go for it.

I was going to climb a fallen barn roof in august my wife said i would fall threw.I lisened.
In febuary went back to roof to climb it and it had fallen over the winter:eek:

I had to look it up to try to understand "slope" and "grade".

That makes the H3 about 20 degree angle slope and 30 degree grade.

I can?t visualize rise VS run, but I can visualize angles. I can add this to my dislike of the use of % for anything. Per 100?give me a break! :confused: :D

I'm not sure I agree with you a 100% on your police work, there, Lou. ;) Your numbers are right, but slope and grade are the same thing. It just depends on which way you're pointing.

The H3 can handle a 60% forward slope, rising 60 feet for every 100 feet forward. This equals a 31 degree "pitch" angle. The H3 can handle a 40% side slope, rising 40 feet for every 100 feet across. This makes a 22 degree "roll" angle.

I hate % measurements too. But I guess the marketing folks liked the bigger % numbers better.

I've had my H3 at over 30 degrees on the Levo....no roll over, but it sure felt suckie:D

It's all good, dude. I was just pulling your leg with that line from Fargo. You can also take the cotangent of the percent grade (.4, .6, etc)to find the angle.
