The question is - can a snatch block be used with Synthetic line? I know it can be used if wanted to but is it not recommended or will this damage the synthetic line?
I plan on purchasing a WARN portable winch - it is a little over 100 pounds if I change out to Synthetic line about how much lighter would it be?
When purchasing Synthetic line is it best to buy the very best like MasterPul Super Line XD or is somthing like Amsteel Blue just fine?
You have any other good advice on the subject?
Thanks! :D

I have seen a video of a winch rope " Synthetic Line " being used with a open leg snatch block, with no problems at all.
I would say if you are using synthetic winch line, with a snatch block, make sure that your snatch block is in good working order, and that your winch line is in good shape.

I've used my synthentic line with standard snatch blocks a bunch of times. All snatch blocks have "rollers", so you're not dragging the rope over anything that could snag or fray it.
I have a portable winch (9500ti) and it is a LOT lighter with the synthetic line. I'd definitely go synthetic.

I still don't get why using a roller fairlead with the syn line is a bad thing? Less friction so why do they recomend not using a roller?

It can get caught between the rollers (the corners) which can snag it.
