A piece of metal went through the inside wall of my 285 tire. While I was at the dealer today to get a new tire the rep told me that the tire that comes stock in our H3 is discontinued so I had to get a totally different tire tred and side wall from my 4 stock tires. I bought a tire cover to hid the different tire. I didn't question him when he told me the tire was discontinued but it bothered me later on while I was home that the tires didn't match, so I called the dealer to confirm it was really discontinued or was he just trying to sell the tire that he had in stock and he guarenteed me that it was discontinued. Is this true?

The 285 is the Desert Dueler, and the 265 is the Good Year tire I believe...

From what I have seen, it is the same tire being used on the '07s. At least every one with the Adventure package has this tire, or it sure looks the same; I didn't check the actual sidewall.
Maybe the dealer is fibbing?
Hey H3 builder....what tires are you guys putting on the vehicle????:D

Maybe they wised up and will dump the Duelers and start putting the BFG KOs on the Adventure package :)

They should do this at a minimum!

I blew one of my tires and got a new one from Firestone. Same size, tred, make and everything.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to handle this matter? I would be alot happier if my spare tire matched the other 4 tires. Royal Hummer of Florham Park in New Jersey mounted the spare tire [ 6-20-06 ] and it has never touched the pavement.[ the tire has been under a tire cover since they put it on ] I want to have a good relationship with the dealership, but if they can order the correct tire I think they should swap tire for me. How should I approach this without getting anyone pissed at me or in some kind of trouble with there boss?

Why would you want to save the job of someone whose trying to BS you?
Go in and ask for the matching tire. Be nice at first. Say they obviously made a mistake. If they still try to BS you, then raise hell and escalate the matter.

I couldn't agree with you more, But I don't want to labeled as the guy who is a pain in the ass. Plus I always wait at the dealership while the H3 is gettig serviced if they want they could make me wait all day with BS excuses.

Getting the service you deserve is not being a PITA. If they won't take care of you, find someone who will. Whether that means going somewhere else or going over their heads.

First as always thenks to everyone for there advice. This is the out come of the tire. I called the dealer with the part number they put me on hold an called there supplier, when they took me off hold they said it was the right part number but they still can't get the tire it was discontinued. I asked them if I bought the tire from TireRack.com would they refund me my money for the tire they sold me and they said yes. So I ordered the tire when it comes in I will have it mounted and get my refund.

A customer of mine had the same problem. We stock them just because they are a two day wait.
Good luck!
