I want to put something in the back on my car that needs 12V DC. I have a Cigarette plug sounds easy correct? Well, I need to be able to turn the "something" on and off from the front. I do not want to cut into the wiring harness. Is there a "remote cigarette plug" that I can switch from the front? or do you know of another way?

Without cutting the existing rear plug wires and putting in a switch, or running new wires to the back, the answer is no.

If it was 110V, you could just plug in an inverter and then use THE CLAPPER. Much easier than an on-off switch, and more fun too!!:D

Put a switch in front run it to the back tap into male plug on accy.
You can just tuck in a wire from front to back on passanger side without removing panels.:D

Or you could tap into a RAP circuit with a relay and run the wire to the back the same way and power would work off the key .

Tap into ignition wire with a relay and it will work only on key foward ,run position.

Sorry Klint, I'm a bit late to the party on this thread (been on vacation).

If you want to spend a bit of time putting the pieces together, you can do this:

1) Buy a key-fob transmitter and receiver board with a relay. Available from several sellers on e-bay, I purchased some from a seller named madeinchina2006. You'll want one that toggles (on with first push, off with second) and latches the output.

2) Wire this into power at the plug in the back, run one leg of the power through the relay. If you want to make it portable, buy a male and female lighter plug and socket (Radio Shack) and wire it all up external.

Could be a pretty cool way to make your truck seem like it is haunted.

JC Whitney has many cigarette lighter plug ins with multiple outlets and cord lengths. I use them in my boat for misc items. Some have LEDS for reminders of whats pluged in. You can easily tuck wires away and simply unplug main when wanting to kill...:beerchug: :beerchug:
