Hi guys! I'm Jason. I am brand new to this forum and I came to you guys because I am having trouble with my brand new H3 and unfortunately, the dealer cannot get me in for another 3 weeks so I thought I'd try here to see if you all have an answer for me. I have an '06 red H3 with 101 miles on it.. the problem is, since my odo has hit 101 miles it has not ticked a mile past that. Every other gauge function is working properly.. fuel... volts... speedo.. tach... etc. just not the odo. I have looked for a burnt out fuse or something can cannot find squat. Is there anything I can troubleshoot myself in the mean time before the dealer can help me? I don't have service manual since none are available yet and I have no clue where to look. I'm surprised the dealer would want me driving my new truck around with no miles going on it, but maybe they dont care. I'm just looking for any help you guys can give. On a side not, I love my truck! I put on a volant air intake and it helped the power numbers out a lil bit. I think I will wait about 3-4 months before I try wheeling it... character marks can come later, right? :)

Thanks guys for any help you can give this H3 nooob.... (p.s) this is my first GM vehicle...I have been a dodge guy prior to this. (try not to yell at me too much) :)

just drive it as much as you can while its not registering miles , just think of it as a free warranty period :D :D

I thought that too, but inquisitive as I am I thought maybe there was a way to fix it myself to avoid the hassle of goin to the dealership... sucks.... 101 *shown* miles on my truck and already dealer service.......

Enjoy the extended warranty mileage and the lower depreciation while you can.

ya.. that part is nice.... but what do you think would cause that to happen? In my ram I had a fuse that blew once that controlled my rear wheel speed sensor. I replaced it and all was well... this truck is way different.

In any event PLEASE post the "problem" when you get it figured out.;)

That's very valuable information.

Have the dealer put it in writing that they could not get you in to fix it for 3 weeks.

Bad cluster! THey will havev to pull your cluster, send it in, and than put back into the truck. ....my 2 cents.

As stated above, probably a bad cluster. It does not have to keep you out of it though, as the dealership can take the ID# off your unit and have a replacement shipped out the next day, as long as there is sufficient inventory.

The actual truck milage is stored in the computer. The new cluster should show the actual miles on the truck. So I wouldn't worry.
Three weeks to get the truck in is kind of lame.

Does the trip odometer work?

I called them this morning and they said they would fax me a letter signed by the service manager, which I already received... thank you for that advice! I'm gonna put that in my truck file.

The trip odo is frozen too. 101 miles and that is it.... Whats this BCM I keep hearing about? Is that the puter? and yes, 3 weeks is lame... they better not think they are keeping my truck and not giving me another one... and I dont want a car either, better be another hummer. lol

Watch...you'll get it back and the odom will read 2000 miles:eek:
"All fixed" :)

You got it right. I believe the proper term is body control module. In newer vehicles it controls everything. Turn on a light switch and you're telling the computer to turn on the light. We're getting closer to fly-by-wire.
It stores your trucks actual milage. If there was a problem with the BCM I would think you'd have other computer related problems too. Or the vehicle would just die.

Bet they'll find the true mileage, bummer. I had a GMC truck back in the mid 70's when the odometer stopped working about month 3 (back in the 12 months/12,000 mile warrenty days). I drove it till the 11th month and then had it repaired under warrenty.
