I have a pretty new set of 9006 HIDs with ballasts that I had in my 03 avalanche. Has anyone heard of a conversion 'ring' or method of making the 9006 lights fit into the H2's 9007 sockets? Besides using a dremel.

I hate to get rid of the HID's.. they are friggin the best lights.

Bad idea IMHO. The reflectors inside the 9007 based housing are optically designed for a 9007 bulb. Anything else will be putting good light through something that wasn't geared for it.

Mayhem, use that old kit in your fogs--that is exactly what I did with the same kit (from my old avalanche). You will need to a little work on the oem fogs to get the hid bulb to fit and seal, but well worth the effort.

Nah.. i meant for the stock headlights... I have a set of 9006 bulbs with ballasts (Hids)... I had them installed on my 03 Avalanche... I simply removed the old bulbs from the AV.. reversed the stock polarity on the connectors (only way to power them up).. and plugged in the new bulbs (and mounted the ballasts).

I know the stock housing was not 'designed' for maximum light output.. but it made a huge difference.. ( i was also suprised to find that the heat output was actually lower on HID than stock).

My DRL's were changed out to the PIAA bulbs (much whiter).

but everyone is saying bad idea .. so for now they sit in my garage. Maybe I'll put them in my jeep cherokee.

Do you mean the DRL's?

How do the reflectors stand up? As I know a lot of the reflectors lose their reflective finish from the stock bulbs.

Yes, sorry. I did the conversion in my drl's and they work great. I did have to make them point down a little as I was getting flashed all the time. They add a ton of light output right in front of the vehicle where it was definitley lacking.

hmmmm i will have to investigate that further... If you modded your drl's to take a 9006 HID.. that would take some doing.
I just got my sirgm1.. so now I'm figuring out how to get the dash off for the radio.
