I have a problim, the battery in my H2 keeps dying, if i dont drive it it will last about 6 days before it wont start the truck, i took it to the dealer and he tells me that is normal. well now it will last onlt 2 days before it dies. does anyone have any ideas of what is draining the battery or if i need to contact Hummer Rep for a replacement, the truck is an 05 H2. any info would be appreciated.
thanks

Check the positive battery connection. I just had mine snap out of the factory battery and drain acid into my engine compartment. There are issues with these batteries....

first, go buy a better battery, such as a yellow or red top Optima.

Then if you have the same problem go back to the dealer to find out what is draining the battery.

It is most likely you are just dealing with a POS battery that comes in the trucks.

Yeah. As the battery nears full death it'll start to lose charge more and more frequently. If it's just a bad battery then a replacement will be all that's needed.

As Paragon suggested, get an optima as the replacement. If you're still within the first year, you should be able to get a replacement from the dealer.

If not, then get a yellow top. It's more resilient to discharges than a typical starter battery. So if it turns out that you have a drain on your system that's responsible for killing your first battery, then it won't get ruined as easily as the OE battery would. Obviously, though you'd have enough to justify the dealer chase down the drain.

BTW, discharge in 6 days is absolutely not normal.

Is there a Particular Yellow Top to buy? When I bought the replacement for mine the Knuckle head at Advance Auto parts said there was no Optima for the hummer. I ended up with a non Delco battery that looks just like the old one. Does the optima use the same mounting system as the factory battery? thanks for the help guys.

A little search (http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/search.php)'l do you.

D34/78 is the biggest yellow top and has top and side posts. It fits in the stock tray nicely.

See here (http://www.optimabatteries.com/publish/optima/americas0/en/config/product_info/automotive/deep_cycle/technical_specs.html) for specs.
