You should check your hood support cables and see if they have the black rubber coating on them, because if they do it will most likely be rusted under the coating! I opened my hood the other day and one of the cables broke, luckily the other didn't or the hood would have been on the ground. The replacement cable doesn't have the black rubber on it so the rubber won't retain the moisture thereby rusting the cable. It literally turned to powder. Just a heads up. I don't know if all of the years have them, mine is an early '03 VIN 913.

There has been a post on this recently...I had mine looked at by the dealer, they said they were OK...but as I looked at them, one had white powder all over one end...no "rust". Definitely water trapped in the rubber tube causing it to degrade. I will have a relook to see if it may be on it's way out!

firemanjay, sorry I don't have the number but I'm sure that partsguy or someone else will be able to help. Be sure that you replace both when you order them.

I just picked up mine this morning. The new ones don't have the rubber coating on the cable and they don't come in pairs, you have to get 2 of them seperately.
