I am having the Eclipse AVN 2454 installed with some other goodies. The installer told me that he would mount a small speaker for the On Star output under the dash as it would have to use the stock amp. I told him that I believed a device was out in the market that allowed On Star output to be routed through the driver's speaker and would mute the aftermarket audio when On Star was in use. I have spent the last hour searching here for the post where I thought that I had read about it, but no luck. Does anyone know the link to the post or the device. Thanks!

I have this system installed in my 2005 SUT and it is great, the adapters are made by PAC you can go to the web site and get the Part Numbers make sure that your installer gets the adapter with the chime module as all cabin chime noises are played thru the factory radio and this adapter will take the place of the radio chime audio, the adapter also allows ONSTAR to work normally. Additionally you will need the PAC adapter for your steering wheel controls to function, this also is pretty painless to install , a small transmitter the size of a straight pin head will be mounted just in front of the shifter and pointed at the front of the face of the unit to transmit the steering wheel inputs via IF signal to the face of the unit. I can supply pictures and additional info if you need it. good luck!

That would be great drduke. Please email pictures to r.spurling@comcast.net. Does your system automatically mute the radio/cd sound when using On Star? Does the On Star output feed through the driver's door speaker?

The radio or nav is suspended when the ONSTAR button is pushed and the system returns to normal when ONSTAR is disconnected (just like the factory radio) the audio is thru the left side speakers - again just like factory. I will send you some pictures of the unit installed and the IF transmitter location, but it won't be until tomorrow evening.
