I waited a while to get this mount from Laptopcityonline. It works very well with plenty of room for the passenger and for shifting. It is extremely sturdy and takes vibrations and off roud pounding nicely. The GPS maps look great on the new MacBook. It was worth the wait. 195.00

No doubt, it looks nice and RAM makes good stuff. I guess my only question is does RAM say who, driver or passenger) will be the person who has the laptop in the face if that passenger side airbag goes off?:D
That bag goes off with quite a force, especially if in stage two, and it will shatter that laptop and send pieces of laptop all over the passenger compartment, and probably will not protect the passenger, or take part of the laptop into the passengers face. (Hard to tell which way the laptop will fly due to the angle.
Just something to think about...

Can I turn off the airbag when the laptop mount is in the vehicle?

The whole assembly comes out with a twist and a pull, so it will only be in when off-roading or when the GPS is needed.

Right now it is slightly off center towards the passenger. You are right, All hell would break loose if the airbag went off. Could I disconnect the sensor under the seat for the passenger to keep it off?

Just let my ex-wife ride with you. She said that she was tired of taking my flak, maybe others wouldn't be so bad. :D

Not sure what would happen if you disconnected that sensor. Not sure if it would default to system on or off. I do know if you disconnect it or the air bag, it would set some codes and turn on the air bag (SIR) light.

The passinger air bag is supressed if the weight on the passinger seat is below a preset weight limit. This is the Passinger Sensing System. I forget the threshold weight but it would be set to distinguish a child (or small adult) versus adult.

Yes...?

C'mon F5, put the passinger on the laptop stand and put the laptop on the passinger seat. Gosh!

That would work....

I was just agreeing with how it worked. I'm also going to guess that GM will default to no airbag if the switch is disconnected. But I DO NOT know this for sure.:D

I use the laptop for 7.5" quads and satalite imagery overlays. I wish I could use a handheld. The big screen is nice though.
